Datura Dreams... Datura Stramonium as a lucid dream enhancer? * 1
    #8304047 -

So lately I've been getting into some low-dose experimentation with Datura Stramonium, and quite to the contrary of most reports that I've found with this entheogen, I've enjoyed every use.  I haven't gotten up to full-fledged delirium levels (and don't plan to until I feel completely ready :P), but I've discovered that in moderate doses, Datura can be an incredible boost to would-be lucid dreamers.

My preparation method is taking up to 25 dark black Datura Stramonium seeds and boiling them in water for about twenty minutes to make tea.  Taken with a couple shots (to bring an air of self-confidence and increase drowsiness) right before bedtime, I've found this gives me some of the craziest, most realistic, sexual, and lucid dreams that I've ever had on a substance.

Now, I've been through the standard list of lucid dreaming substances (with the exception of Calea zacatechichi).  None have quite been this powerful.  Melatonin with B6 produced no noticeable effects, and 5-HTP tryptophan made me pass out promptly but then proceed to wake up periodically through the night and then feel moderately cracked-out the next day.  Valerian root is probably the only dreaming herb that compares... it produced incredibly long dreams with a coherent plot that invariably ended up turning into adventures from an action movie.

However, under Datura Stramonium, I literally could not tell the difference between dream and reality.  There were little to no discontiguous breaks, context applied everywhere, and the passage of time needed to go from one dreamscape location to another was pretty much the same as if I actually was walking there.  The people you interact with, too, will be almost identical to your friends and family of waking life.  Last night, for instance, when I took my 25 seed dosage, I was planning to do a few things with friends today.  Under the Datura, I actually dreamt that I had woken up and started my day off doing all those things I had planned to do... and it felt like a FULL day had passed.  This just blew my mind.  The rampant sexuality brought on by this entheogen is rather remarkable, as well... I've been lucidly romancing women right and left to an extent that I didn't know was possible in the murky waters of my subconscious.

To top it off, for weeks after each Datura experience, my dreams became greatly more lucid.  Has anyone else reported similar effects from Datura?

Wow, cool report. As much as I absolutely love lucid dreaming, I don't think I'm willing to turn to Datura just yet...

Cool report. You should do a journal on your experiences with Datura. Reporting of well documented sensible use is harder to come by than the usual demented crisis trip reports.

One question. Considering the nature of Datura, how do you know that you are not dreaming this right now?

wow interesting.

I've been thinking of making a datura ethanol solution so that I might be able to experiment with low doses in a way that would allow me to create a standerized dose.

Maybe I'll start off with a drop or two and see how it affects my dreams. I've always been intrigued by lucid dreaming, but was never able to acheive them even after much effort.

Hehe... good point. That reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from a Datura trip report:

Quote:
I was able to handle myself well under full datura disorentation, I knew how to handle walking, i knew who was real and who wasnt. At one point though I was taking a stronger dose then I usualy did, and i was talking to this man (he wasnt real, I just knew it) and i had figured out that I could stick my hands though anyone who wasnt real, and this man put down the pipe that he was smoking on my bed stand and said to me so you know that i am not real? and i turned to him and nodded, then he reached over and stuck his hand right through me. this completly destroyed all sense i had of reality at that point and i spent the next two days sure of that fact that i was the only not real person out there.

ROFL. Yeah, I've read that one before too. I love Datura trip reports best of all. I've always been fascinated by Datura. Even though it grows everywhere here naturally I still plant some nearby every year just to grow it. I think I'll plant some seeds later today in light of this reminder.

I was serious about the journal suggestion.

Once I've garnered all I can from the Angels Trumpet, I'll definitely write up all my notes. Such a fascinating plant.

Please do sounds like a really good read :-)

and

Lol at the report quote, i also love Datura trip reports always the more interesting heh.

--------------------
God takes those closest to us, because it makes him feel better about himself. He is a very vengeful God. He's all pissed off about something we did thousands of years ago. He just can't get over it, so he doesn't care who he takes. Children, puppies, it don't matter to him, so long as it makes us sad.

Why does God give us anything?

Look at it this way: if you want to make a baby cry, first you give it a lollipop. Then you take it away. If you never give it a lollipop to begin with, it would have nothin' to cry about. That's like God, who gives us life and love and help just so that he can tear it all away and make us cry, so he can drink the sweet milk of our tears. You see, it's our tears, Stan, that give God his great power.

I'm very interested in OBEs and lucid dreams as well, too bad I don't think I have the possibility to find Datura here. I always try to lucid dream.

Interresting. I have been growing a Datura Inoxia last summer. It is the one the aztecs supposedly used as "Toloache" or "Toloatzin".

I have found out that ingesting 2 to 5 grounded seeds of this plant to be Profoundly dreamenhancing with barely noticable waking effects.
A tea I and a friend once strained from half a Brugmansia flower ended my up in a Dream where I met the plant spirit. She wasn't very nice.

I have ingested these low doses of Datura Inoxia seeds right before sleep perhaps 3 times and all with great success. Datura seeds, in humble amounts, have become my DreamEnhancer of Choice.

I would be very carefull entering Datura delirium. I myself would seek to avoid it. 2 - 3 seeds are physically and mentally safe yet very effective on the Dreaming mind. perhaps I would combine the 3-datura-inoxia-seeds with a tiny tiny psilocybe mushroom or a rediculously tiny dose of acid. Sounds like one hell of a Dream Enhancer to me.

5htp is great and all, but datura has (as you know)  anticholinergic compounds. try loading up on phosphatidyl choline or lecithin
(but keep in mind, acetylcholine levels are naturally downregulated) for a few days before experimenting with low-moderate doses of datura. this may help with more vivid lucid dream states

piracetam (especially taken with choline) may help with a quick rebound from anticholinergics.

Do you think it's possible that 2-3 seeds could ever be an active (delirium inducing) dose? I have no idea how wide the potency variation is.

It's possible but unlikely IMO.  The lowest dosage that I've seen in a trip report that induced delirium was five seeds, but this was only a single report.  You would probably require over fifteen seeds to get into dangerous territory, and most of the trip reports that involve three days worth of Datura reveries involved at least a seed pod or two.  I usually work with around fifteen to twenty five seeds, but this is pushing into low delirium levels.

Start small and work your way up just to be safe.

Yeah, I've had the realistic dreams. But it was after eating a pod full of seeds. That's how I did it when I used to do it back in the day. And those dreams will be there waiting for you everytime you go to sleep. And this high (from eating a pod full of seeds)goes on for 3 full days with the 4th and 5th day feeling like a glorious, brave new world. If you do a pod full, you better have 3 days to spare and if you are not "experienced", don't even go there.

I have great effects from 3 or 4 D. inoxia seeds chewed sublingual and swallowed before bedtime... instant, vivid dreams.

Wow.

Inoxia is said to be sedating while stramonium is exciting.  I find this to be true; so use the inoxia for night-time use.

Great report deCypher.

Blessings.

Favorite entheogen experiences in descending order:
1)Combo of oral DMT + smoked Bufotenine
2)Amanita (urine drank twice)
3)Mushrooms > Achuma 16"+cid(still need higher dose Achuma)> Cid (still need high dose)
4)Morning Glory-HBWR (+cumin, cinnamon aldehyde adducts) > Methyl chavicol (need more activators)
5)Salvia (need to try quid)

All readable matter in the above post is ficticious... any similarities to real life are purely coincidental.

Blessing.

many solanaceae plants were used by 'witches' to induce the sabbath in dreams.

I dont think theres any modern study on its effects on dreams tho. I will definitely try eating 2-3 seeds before bed.

I had some of the most intense, long, vivid, dark and utterly bizarre lucid dreams I've ever had after smoking a few bowls full of seeds and leaves before bed one night... and that's definitely saying something.
