Lucid Dreaming
    #5457565 - 03/29/06 10:46 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Has anyone done this? For those who are unsure it is by definition "becoming conscious while dreaming". I'm wondering what people have done to reach a state of being able to lucid dream. Whether they meditated or used certain lucid dreaming herbs or what. I wanna know!

Thanks for any answers and Peace! :mushroom2:

oh yea. i get that all the time. a lot of flying.

if you want to know an easy way to "get in the state" or whatever, do this.

close your eyes and get ready for bed. you know the routine.
say something to the extent of "I'm dreaming" over and over and over. eventually, if you are tired of course, you will fall asleep. however, you will be conscious of it. work from that.

or

imagine yourself dreaming. this works best for me right when I wake up. just think of something you would be dreaming of. like... walking down the street and on your way somewhere. imagine every aspect of it to a point of excess. have your eyes closed of course.
good luck

Yeah, take around 3-6mg of melatonin and then a whole bunch of Vitamin B6. B6 can be found in high amounts in Emergen-C. Both taken about an hour or so before bed should produce some clearer/lucider dreams.

Yeah I've tried it and I did notice a difference. I only took 2mg of melatonin at the time though...more would have deffinitly helped. I think I downed 2 packets of Emergen-C which were around 500% of daily values of B6 (not sure how many mg's). There are alot of great erowid reports on it, I suggest checking them out and seeing how they dosed.

By the way, you'll sleep great!

I am a dreamer. Dreaming is what I do. I control my own dreams and even enter into the dreams of others on occasion. I can leave one dream and enter into another at will... That means "waking up" into another dream. Pretty crazy stuff and its not all fun ang games. You have to be careful. Its not "just a dream" there are real consequences for some of the things that can happen in dreaming.

i just think about lucid dreaming a lot if i want really would like one, eventually you will get a feel for them and dreams and they will turn out closer to how you plan and feel how you want them to.

once you start having them, they start to pop up on their own too, just takes practice getting to know your sleepy mind, have fun!

I cant control my dreams, but most of the time while dreaming, if its some rediculous situation (which it usually is), i think to myself "this is a weird dream", or "why the hell am i dreaming this".

Once i was having a very graphic, dark dream - someone was chopping me up in to peices with these big sissors - and i said to myself "this is to intense", i woke up and laid in bed until i fell asleep again.

I've never been able to control my dreams, but im usually concious of my dreams. I'll give those vitamins a try

I made my last lucid dream happen (which was two days ago) by thinking like two hours before about it before going to sleep. And it was one of my most beautiful lucid dreams ever.
I was in a huge house, I mean REALLY huge and that's where the.... Universe was. I suddenly realized that I was dreaming and got to business. I went from room to room, every part of the house had a specific feeling, there were rooms bumping, I was flying around them, then swimming.

I've had 63 lucid dreams since I discovered the concept back in June last year. I'm getting 1 every 3 days on average now.

I just use hypnosis to induce lucid dreams. The hypnosis makes my subconcious more alert to dream situations. Like, in my waking life, if I'm in an unusual place (say, a castle or a large shopping mall), my mind will be ringing alarm bells shouting out "Is this a dream!?". Occasionally I'll also notice when I'm about to fall asleep and fall conciously into a dream state.

I also keep a dream journal to help in dream recall.

Reality checks never worked for me. I only use reality checks as confirmation when I already think that I'm probably dreaming. Most of the more common methods such as MILD, WILD, etc. don't seem to work for me.

I haven't tried any of the herbs either.

I go through periods of having them every night, generally when I'm feeling very creative and passionate about something.

When I first started having them, I found the easiest way to enter a lucid dream is to set your alarm to an hour before you would usually get up. Alarm goes off, wake up and switch it off and then remember what you were dreaming about. Go back to sleep but keep the memory of what you were dreaming about in your head, when you feel you're back remind yourself that it's just a dream and that you're in control of the situation. I find I still don't have complete control over the dream yet, but I can direct it with quite a bit of accuracy.

The art of dreaming is the art of training the assemblage point. You must build your dreaming awareness by concentrating on the objects in your dream. Hold the objects in you sight until they begin to morph/change/melt or whatever... then move on to the next object.... and back to the first. Do these exercises until you can hold your dreaming attention. Most people start with their hands; I recommend this. In your dream LOOK AT YOUR HANDS. Hands are good because they are always there, but you could use anything really...

Training your assemblage point is very important to people who want to move beyond the boundaries and limitations of this frequency we call reality.

Dreaming is an ancient practice. It is nothing new or "new age." The art of dreaming is old. It has just been removed from our language...

Hopefully some day it will be practiced by the masses and our collective awareness level can rise...

I've been doing Lucid Dreams and OBE's (Out of Body Experience) for years. I've had them since childhood. My advice is to keep a Dream Diary for awhile then start Lucid Dreams. If you know your dreams you'll know how to control them.

When you are going to sleep close your eyes and relax, concentrate on a single thought and nothing else. The more you concentrate the more tired and "drained" you get. Keep concentrating you'll eventually fall to sleep and in your sleep you will still be "looking" at the thought. You will know you are sleeping from this point you can do anything you want... try jumping and while jumping fly. It works

A good way to lucid dream is to keep a journal of your dreams. Write them down every morning in as much detail as you possibly can remember. The more you do this, the easier it will be to remember your dreams, the easier it will be to recognize that you are dreaming.

I've been keeping a journal of my dreams for quite some time now. A lot of my dreams now are lucid and extremely vivid. It's becoming easier and easier for me to recall every aspect of my dreams lately.

EDIT: Just read up a few posts.. I pretty much just repeated time2's post.

Yes when you keep a journal it is way easier to remember dreams and be lucid in them. Also it is a great hobby... When I do shrooms when I go to sleep they are definetly more LUCID then normal so that could help to. Also DAIRY products such as Warm Milk and cheese b4 u go to bed will help. But if you have to much food you will have Nightmares or may have them.

Benzodiazepines such as Xanax also help with dreaming also. I've got a prescription for periodic anxiety/panic attacks, so the times I do have episodes of anxiety, I pop a xanax, calms me down.. When I sleep I have amazingly vivid dreams which makes it easier to be lucid in, because you're less likely to wake up right when you realize it's a dream.

I used to use Dramamine pills to trip and after a few big trips of that i started having a lot of lucid dreams. Its kind of strange though theyre very intense dreams. Also its not the easiest drug in the world to handle. Makes your mind very cloudy but the hallucinations are very vivid.

I've never really intended to lucid dream, but more often than not that's what I end up doing when I sleep.

It's as if I'm fully conscious in my dreams, however they're very unlike reality. Most often the situation and environment is not very static, changing fairly often.

I've been keeping track of a lot of my dreams (I remember a surprising amount.. it's uncommon I believe), and I've noticed that nearly everything in them has somehow in some way or another been on my mind in the recent past. For instance... I play this game Red Orchestra once in a while (it is a WW2 game), and recently in one of my dreams I was a soldier with a machine gun and fatigues similar to that of a soldier in WW2. I even was driving/looking from a tank at one point. I was in my neighborhood, however, not a battlefield per se.

From the same night, I ended up at a party-ish thing on the beach (although very strange, with mounds of sand surrounding the party), and only remembered days later that my work had a beach party I had forgotten about the day after the dream.

All of my dreams are very abstract, and are, as far as I can tell, bits and pieces of my memories and subconscious meshed together to form some very weird and surreal experiences. It's odd how much control/reccolection of my dreams I have. The only substance I use regularly is marijuana and nicotine.

Oh, and try this exercise... focus on your hands in a dream. before you go to bed, think about your hands, and focus on looking at your hands. If you are lucky enough to 'remember' this in your dream, you will be surprised with the results. being able to visualize your hands in a dream seems to result in being able to control more aspects of your dream.

If you can find some, I suggest you buy some R.E.M goggles. I have never seen them for sale, ever, even on Ebay, but I know they exist, because my psychology teacher had some.

Basically, they detect when you are in REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep, (which is the stage of sleep where most dreaming occurs). They use a laser to detect eye movement, then once it detects REM sleep, a dim red light comes on that you can just see with your eyes shut. The theory of it is that you train yourself to recognise that when you see the red light, you are dreaming.

I have never tried it, but apparently people who have used it have had great success in Lucid dreaming.
