the stems are actually alot lighter then the looked in the pic... i had to scan them cause my digital camera is broke, at least the spore print will show whats up..
also: as the caps are drying out more, they are turning alot lighter in colour.
i just have these in a paper bag right now, what should i do with them until i can find out an id???

They look like Foens to me, the habitat matches up as well... The stems are wrong and the gill color is a bit off for Pan Subbs. My guess is the print will come out dark brown.

Just look in the phone book for horse stables.
Ask them if they have a compost heap of the stable litter. Say you are studying mycology at the local university and need to take pictures for a project of different habitats for mushrooms. After all , nitrogen is the primary thing that mushrooms "eat".

I just go to a riding stable and tellthem I am photographing mushrooms. I never have a problem with anyone saying no.
OIF anyone here greew up riding horses than you would know the ways of the stable managers and those who frequent the stables anbd how easy it is tto aslk to lok around for mushrooms. IT is usually not a problem. At least here int hePNW it is not. People here are usually people friendly.

I'm pretty sure my trainers would know what you were up too. Not sure they would care, but I'm nervous looking for mushrooms there and I board my horse there. I just don't know what they will do when they see me with a bunch of mushrooms...Iol. Oh well, at least I'm not tresspassing.

You've also gotta consider that you're a kind looking older gentleman. Appearance is everything. If you go to stable to look for mushrooms, be sure not to wear the baggy jeans and take your pericings out

Yeah, I always bring a backpack and notebook to take notes if anyone is watching.
I was once stomping around the horse shit pile, getting all dirty and smelly. I came out and one of the stable guys was like : "So, do any hallucinogenics grow back there?" I acted like I was mad that he even asked and said: "No. Hallucinogenic mushrooms are extremely dangerous! I would never even think about studying them because they could get me in a lot of trouble. I recommend you dont either" or something like that. He was like ... Ummm okay, sorry. Little did he know my bag of mushrooms were subbalteatus... ahhahaha

Ah, such a shame angryshroom, you could've ended up with a perfectly nice trip-buddy. Then again, I understand that I'm living in one of those scarce countries where a drug problem is only a problem if you're out of drugs...
