Pittsburgh, PA Questions. Pan. subb.? Gym. Aer.??

I was wondering about what kind of mushrooms grow in the southwestern Pennsylvania. I have done hours of reading over the past few days and have found many bits of information (some sounding good some bad). I was just wondering if anyone on here had any opinions as to what may grow in my area. I was also wondering if anyone has successfully collected in the Pittsburgh PA area and if so what they may have found. I just want to know if my efforts are futile or not. -Thanks.
PS. I have a friend that collects (I believe Pan. subb.'s in west virginia only about an hour away).

If you could tell what time of year you picked them I would much appreciate it. Also how often do you see these?
THanks a million

Find out what grows in your neighboring states. Even though your state may not have the same species listed as the others, that doesn't necessarily mean they don't grow in your area. Maybe they just haven't been discovered or reported there yet. Good luck.

Gym. spectabilis may be found all summer, but the best time to look is middle of August till the end of September.

Any ideas on perhaps where to look? I am planning on going out later this afternoon and have been putting in alot of time reading and hunting, but as of yet to no avail. Any suggestions as to where to look would be much appreciate (pastures, lawns, ???). THanks again.

G. Spectabilis grows on logs and stumps. Subs on lawns and pastures and aged horse poo.
