I guess it all depends on how you define lesser. If you mean lesser due to the inequality brought forth by the situations of society, then yes women are lesser. If you mean on a grand scheme comparing mental abilities and strength etc then I'd say no.

On a side note I always pondered on the thought of women being a vessel. If that is the case then women are a reflection of what we as men decide to fill them with. So it could further be assumed that it is the dad's fault for not nurturing his daughter into a woman. Good job fuckheads...

My dad had two sons before me. He did everything he could to make them "men". They turned out to be wimps. They freak out when they get their hands dirty, manual labour is too gosh darn hard, papercuts hurt, etc, etc.

Once he saw what disappointments his sons were, he turned his attention to me. I'm tougher than my brothers. Sure, they tried to compensate by kicking the shit out of me whenever something would go wrong with them. But once I hit my late teens, I could hold my own against them. And now, I'm an engineer. I have a higher education than my father and so we constantly butt heads over everything he deems I should be wrong about, not because he doesn't understand the logic behind it, but rather because I don't have a penis, therefore I can't possibly know.

My brothers tend to do the same, yet can't explain their reasoning.

At work, I am constantly forced to say "Because physics doesn't work like that!" Whenever someone tries to vary a plan I had laid out that they don't understand

engineer?  they let women drive trains?  jk more power to ya!

I am a classical music junkie. I play romantic era piano and guitar. And I find it extremely difficult trying to identify any notable female composers. Males on the other hand, there is chopin, liszt, paganini, beethoven, mozart, bach, tchaikovsky, schubert, debussy, haydn, brahms, rubinstein, pachelbel, vivaldi, etc. Basically everything I listen to was composed by a male. Not intentionally but that's how it is.

If you were a classical music junkie (I am too, I played classical piano for 15 years and have won numerous awards for my playing, and scored significantly than other male competitors), then you would have known that many women in the family of those men you mentioned played and composed music. Such as Mozart, Schumann, Handel... They simply didn't attain fame for it, because women were prohibited from working outside the realm of the home during the baroque, classical, and romantic eras.

What YOU'RE effectually doing is claiming that I'm somehow not good enough, or as good as the males that I beat, simply because I'm a woman. You as a classical musician would know then, that there are far more women competing than there are men in piano competitions nowadays.

Sports that women have done better in...

Let's take a look at the Olympic gold metal in archery

70 meters (men) - 349 pts - Kim, Jae-Hyung (Korea)
70 meters (women) - 351 pts - Park, Sung-hyun (Korea)

30 Meters (men) - 360/17 arrows - Kye, Dong-hyun (Korea)
30 Meters (women) - 360/15 arrows - Yun, Min-jun (Korea)

(Obviously getting 360 points out of 15 arrows, is far better than getting it out of 17... I recently started taking up archery as a sport. Some of the truly best professionals can actually hit a drop of water leaking out of a faucet... crazy.)

Women do slightly better than men in equestrian riding (which I also used to do competitively when I was younger).

As I said, "popular" sports are the ones where men excel at them.

Also, simply because ONE man or woman is better than ONE man or woman in competition, really does nothing to say that all men are better or worse than all women. It really only proves that one man was either better or worse than that 1 woman. When people say that women are better at endurance sports, they are comparing a BUNCH of men and women, and have found that the average woman is better than the average man at endurance. Here is an example of 1 source that compared the 2 sexes in long distance swimming: http://www.active.com/swimming/Articles/Men-Vs-Women-in-Endurance-Sports.htm

If you had the Olympic gold winner of any female compete with any other normal, average guy, she would win tremendously. Just like how if most of the guys hating on women were to be pitted against Mohammed Ali's daughter, I am certain they would get their asses handed to them.

Thus, there is always the exception to the rule. Not all men are better or "superior." As a matter of fact, I am certain there are quite a few male posters in here who are unemployed, fat, lazy, and still having their mama take care of them.

women are human beings. i throw all people all into that category, male/female/white/red, whatever. i know some girls who can out drink, out wrestle, out sport me, etc... and i know some that are completely useless. same goes for guys.

the only generalizations i really make regarding sexes are that men are usually stronger, and women are usually much prettier

Let me clear my idea somewhat, 99% of the women i know are better at math than me as well as many other men. Not my point. Many women have high rank jobs like military or business or arts, Not my point.

Most of the philosophers and movers and people who mattered were men, Einstein, Tesla, Buddha, Newton, Carl Sagan, Hendrix, Mckenna, Huxley, Twain, the list goes on, and the list of women to mention that make the list are not because of women like quality's but because of their drive for something greater, for example Harriot Truman,

Women get to caught up in emotions to be on a level of a man. Yes they should be allowed freedom and rights and do whatever but to say they are on a equal level as a man is, i just cant agree. I say let women be women but recognize they are not men. Men are on top for a reason, if women were better than as the saying goes "brains over brawns" women would run the show but they dont so that must mean there is more to the reason of hierarchy than just men are stronger.

When i think of your average woman i think of a emotional slut bag desperate housewife wannabe lying socialite for a life bitching about what they can until they find a real man that takes care of them and their needs and bills while they roam the land bleeding there sexuality and hormones fucking other men to add another notch to their belt. And im not all high and mighty on men, i know they to can be prick douche bag cheating idiots, but they eventually grow out of that, and usually its because of women that they are that way.

Every time i see a woman standing tall or yapping about women power and women sexuality i want to punchem in the face, and when i meet a guy that brags about his girl thinking shes perfect, i want to show him how easy it can for her to say to him (your a wonderful man but goodbye) when you put her in a sexually charged atmosphere environment among other horny game playing men, that bitch will become a cock sucker like you never seen.

Women i think are fucked up, and if it wasnt for the fact that they are sexy and fun to fuck i dont see why they would be tolerated.

I think comparing specific traits is fruitless.  -of course- males and females have different specific intrinsic potential strengths and weaknesses.

my view is that males and females complete each other.

so no, one is not better than the other all things considered, but both combined are stronger and more complete as a unit than apart.

now if you were to compare heterosexual COUPLES to GAY ones, im going to have to say that generally the hetero couple is a stronger, more complete as a human unit.

As I said in the other thread, menopause occurs for SOME women at age 40. It occurs as early as age 35 for some, and as late as 65 for others.

And yes, my boyfriend is a bleeding heart liberal and also believes that women should have cheap or free access to birth control.

He also cited a study which stated that liberals typically tend to have higher IQ's than conservatives by at least 10 points.

If you had ever actually READ philosophy, then you would have noticed I listed Judith Butler, who is the most famous existential philosopher after Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir (who is ANOTHER woman philosopher I might add, who even beat Sartre and everybody else in a writing competition when they were at university together). And then there's other political theorists such as Gayle Rubin, Catherine MacKinnon, Andrea Dworkin, Rebecca Munford, Winnifred Woodhull... simply because YOU are so ignorant you don't know about female philosophers doesn't mean that they don't exist.

Why don't you actually TRY to go read one of Butler's book; I guarantee that her writing style is so verbose and meticulous you wouldn't even be able to understand what she is saying. I find that her intellectual capacity far exceeds the works of Nietzsche, Aristotle, Hegel, JS Mill, Hobbes, John Locke...

Also, almost none of those people you listed were philosophers  Huxley? Twain? Hendrix? Those aren't PHILOSOPHERS, dude, do you understand the meaning of philosophy? Also I love how you compare Huxley and Hendrix to the works of EINSTEIN and NEWTON, the four are not even remotely similar.

Why don't you THINK about the fact that back when Einstein and Newton were creating their theories, women were not yet allowed into university, therefore were not given adequate chance to create modern theoretical physics. Other notable women who have shaped the scientific realm are Lene Vestergaard Hau, who managed to slow down the speed of light. Or Marie Curie, the chemist who discovered polonium and radium, and won the Nobel Prize. Or Rosalind Franklin, who helped to discover the structure of DNA but died before she could be given credit. (Which has happened a number of times, where women have contributed to academic fields and simply not gotten credit for it for being women). Or France Cordova, who holds the title for the youngest astrophysicist at NASA.

Also, many of the "most notable" influences in society simply plagiarized other people. A good example is Da Vinci--he was pretty much a fraud. So just because a person is famous doesn't mean they are any better than the next unknown person who has contributed to the field.

So, to recap... You're claiming women are now better on average than men at math, but apparently this no longer applies to philosophy? I am so not seeing your point, dude.

You seem like you're not all that intelligent yourself. Do you desire men to be allotted inheritance over inherent superiority because you yourself, know that you would never ever be considered intellectually superior based on merit? So you want it to be awarded to you based on ENTITLEMENT of being "a man," as opposed to it being based on your actual achievements. Because you're not smart enough to achieve brains yourself, and you know it deep down.

Even -if- women are more emotional, i see that as a strength not a weakness.

sometimes when im logically having a bad day, a little love from my lady really goes a long way.

women are also fantastic with children,  children speak in emotions not logic.

while logic has it uses, emotions are so fundamental to modivation and life itself.

You don't really know women, do you? I mean, you're obviously not popular with women, and probably don't have much experience dating or being around them. It seems like you are only getting your perception of women solely from what you watch on TV.

If women are the ones that get angry, then howcome it's STEROIDS (which is a TESTOSTERONE-mimicker) that causes people to get "roid rage?" Testosterone has traditionally always been the "anger" hormone.

I see guys get pissed all the time. Over dumb shit, such as fighting over a parking spot, or the fact that their food or meds aren't ready on time, or whenever somebody cuts them off on the road. Hell, any time I have ever seen a truly explosive, erratic temper, it has almost always been from a man, and it has been over something stupid

We've all had bad shit happen to us. You don't see me going around blaming all men, or women for my problems. That's the pathetic loser route. You're a fucking adult; take responsibility for your own damn actions, and stop blaming everybody for YOUR own shortcomings.

Quote:

How in the FUCK do women stray from "dirty jobs?" Housekeeping and cleaning up after other people's shit and babies is primarily seen as "women's work."

I mentioned before I worked in a veterinary field, and that 90% of all the animal hospitals I worked at had female doctors. You REALLY think that working in animal piss, blood, and shit is fucking sanitary? And what about nurses, which have always been seen as women's work? Yea, THAT'S real clean--cleaning up after people's blood, shit, puke, and piss.

Women typically stray from jobs that require heavy labor, naturally, because you need to have a certain amount of muscle to do those jobs. To claim that women stray from "dirty jobs" is something you should think about the next time your mother washes your nasty-ass socks, underwear, and dishes. Women's work is NOT clean.

It's probably because the routes men and women try to commit suicide are very different. Men for example, will tend to use shotguns or hang themselves, whereas women are more likely to try to overdose on pills or ingest poisons, which isn't always as fatal. People who don't read about chemistry or drugs like we do automatically assume that you can overdose on just about any pill or chemical. So when I hear about people trying to kill themselves by taking 10 Welbutrin or aspirin or laundry detergent, it just makes me
