Conceal carry
    #15383827 -

Quote:
..LINK .Though Republicans have typically supported giving state lawmakers more power to govern, the House on Wednesday passed a measure that would allow people living in "constitutional carry" states to bring their concealed weapons into Illinois -- and block Illinois law enforcement from doing anything about it.

The bill would make a state permit to carry a concealed firearm valid in almost every other state in the country. It was the first pro-gun bill the House has taken up this year and the first since Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., was severely injured in a gun attack in January, it had the National Rifle Association's backing and passed by a comfortable margin. The vote was 272-154, with only seven Republicans voting against it and 43 Democrats supporting it.

Criminals have guns. These bullshit CCW laws keep citizens from legally carrying CCWs that criminals will carry WITHOUT THE PERMIT.

I can't wait for california to get to this point too. Guns are in our society. I don't really like it, I wish it was the way it was in the UK. But, it's not. So having faggy laws like the one illinois had before this and the one california has now only keeps RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS from legally carrying.

44 states require some paperwork and you get your CCW. This is the way it is in nearly 90% of the country. I don't know what you are bitching about considering this is only going to help your saftey. Then again criminals, drug dealers, and thieves always get CCWs, fill out the paper work, and take classes on how to conceal carry before they go out and carry.

Drugs and guns are implemented in society in a very similar way. If you want less crime/damage/death then you need to allow them legally under specific conditions. The bullshit laws that California, Illinois (HAD), and New York have about CCWs do NOT help. This is no different than telling heroin addicts they have to hustle/rob/steal for their dose instead of going to the legal dispensary as a registered addict and get their dose.

That law should pass.

Your rights don't end when you cross state lines.

When you cross state lines, do you:
Lose your freedom of speech?
Your right to an attorney?
Your right not to incriminate yourself?
Your freedom to assemble?

I'm sure some will want to throw the states rights issue into the discussion, but the right to bear arms is a federal one.

Perfectly said. This whole issue of "may issue" and "shall issue" as determined by the individual state is a bunch of BS. Most of the citizens walking around today are not violent criminals. Though the idea that every citizen could be armed, now I think that could put a serious damper on violent crimes.

On a slightly different note. I remember reading an interview a long time ago. The interview was conducted on a General of the Japanese army after WW2. Turns out that the Japanese never had plans to invade the US. Reason being is that they knew that they could never win a war when the majority of the citizens were armed. The potential of a citizen army was too great of a force to be reckoned with.

My opinion is that every citizen should at least own a firearm. Home security, National Security, and Peace of mind.

so you believe that you, a man with a criminal record, who is disallowed from
owning a firearms by law and thus maintaining the status of 'dangerous
criminal', should be allowed to own a firearm in your state with it's
extremely high crime rate om order that you may defend yourself from
dangerous criminals such as yourself who may be carrying firearms illegally
but the law abiding citizen should not be able to defend himself from those
dangerous criminals that have demonstrated a complete disregard for the law

as I recall the dangerous, armed criminals want everyone as a more easily
victimized, unarmed target because it poses less of a danger to the
criminals that are intent on doing harm to those they wish to victimize

Yea, I still vote in all my elections, (fed, state, local) every year and have ever since I was released from my parole. That's probably illegal, but it works for me. Somebodys gotta vote, right ?? :patriot: : ...Good thing there's nobody else on this site that's breaking any laws... :peace:

so, 2 of the US states with the highest violent crime rates, an
ineffective police force that hasnt prevented any crimes and you're
placing your safety in them... yet you own a gun in violation of the law

now surely if these cops were doing their jobs you'd be in prison and you
wouldnt feel the need to own a gun...

yet you violate the laws by owning a firearm in your friendly neighborhood
where the cops are there to 'protect' you from violent criminals... seems
a little hypocritical to say that you rely on the cops who cant prevent
the thousands of murders in your area each year so you own a gun but those
who've never broken the laws arent allowed to have the same luxury of
defending their lives if they simply want to be a part of the tourist
trade in NY, to patronize the local businesses and see the sights in one
of the most visited cities in the US

under the law, a felon with a firearm is a dangerous criminal, it's a
criminal act for you to possess the weapon

nope... most can vote once they're no longer under state supervision

seems most of the law breakers here arent saying "I can break the law but you cant"
