If we feared impermanence that much.....
    #15300969 -

...why hasn't someone come up with a way to keep the brain alive in a jar or summink ?

The arrogant cat stalks the humble mouse, the self important dog chases away the cat and is in turn unable to stand it's ground against the Proud lion. Then the lion is almost trampled underfoot of the enlightened elephant, who surprisingly and paradoxically yields to the humble mouse.

Cause that would be insane, ever think what it would be like to not sense anything? you would just be aware nothing more than your thoughts it would be very strange and I'd imagine you be freaking out the whole time since you would be essentially living in your mind.

Keep you on a slow drip of acid and spend eternity tripping balls.

With the exception of grammatical corrections, everything I say is completely false and without foundation.

Couldn't the senses be replaced by artificial counterparts ?, but even without it would be like one long dream I would guess. Is that better or worse than death ?

Well, everything is ultimately impermanent including a brain in a jar. You could keep the brain alive for 10s of thousands of years, but not forever, and the brain will be just as anxious.

Doesn't mean you would be dreaming, that's dependent on brainwaves right? or would not having the ability to take in sensations cause the brain to be on those certain cycle of brain waves that occur when dreaming? pretty sure you would never be tired sense you have no body to drain either, and from my experience losing your body means instantaneous insanity.

I'm sure anxiety would fade a little after a couple of millenia. :willynilly: :laugh2::levitate:

I think it would get worse. More time to get attached to your existence.

...and equally enough time to become dettached from your existence ?

That would be a logical progression, but the point is why hasn't someone created a God by proxy ?

Yes this thread was indirectly inspired by Futurama, and also Robocop 1, 2 & 3.

What would be the problems in achieving this kind of synthetic perpetuation ?

I think a brain in a jar might experience glandular problems.

Anyway, if we fear death so much, why don't more people accept death and loose the fear? Perhaps the ego also relishes death, and looks forward to the end of it's flawed existence.
