.
Does this apply to a rollercoaster you can ride over and over again....?
.
Take and ride a roller coaster all day until you "get used to it"....
Now come back the next night and ride the same coaster in the complete darkness....
You can memorize the curves and drops timed to a tee, but the thrill will be completely "new" again,
even after being familiar with all the calculated variables....

You lose the thrill and excitement as it becomes mundane. The thrill is renewed due to the new variable introduced in our hypothetical example. TBH I like the idea of riding rollercoasters at night, seem like it would be more fun.

Edit:
typed it out to fast, wasn't paying attention, corrected some errors.

Aaaah, now I will pull out a "big gun", as it might put some of this in perspective....  It involves the flipside of BOTH coins....
Survival Instinct, Ego, Fear, and Thrill/Excitement....
.
SEX....
.
Fear (associated with an ego crushing rejection for some) could actually crush the Survival Instinct - before the actual event has arisen due to a fear of the "unknown"....    But for some, the thrill of the chase is enticing enough, and the excitement/thought of impending sex on top of that is more fullfilling than what harm could possibly come from rejection(to the ego)....  Thus Survival Instincts are intact/acted upon, as fear of rejection was not a clouding factor for this exciting/thrill ride mechanism - in confidence....
.
It is also to be noted that thrill and excitement wears a smile in most cases, where as fear/doubt does not....

It's conditioned in respects to the individual. It doesn't matter if it actually helps with self preservation, but ultimately thats what the mechanisms are for, although half the time they don't do either.

But irrational fears like that of harmless  insects for example should be confronted and overcome becuase they are as useless as false alarm. If i did'nt have any fears, i would'nt be alive today, in fact i probably would'nt have made it past 5 years old.

.
There is a difference between fear and knowledge of danger "instincts" learned from education while growing up....
.

.
Step out in front of a moving car and then tell me that there's a difference .
.
They go hand in hand my friend. Its quite obvious that when a fox is chasing a rabbit, the rabbit is SCARED SHITLESS of getting caught. :smirk:

.
.
.
I somehow missed this when the topic was "freshly" going last, so I will make it "fresh" again....!
.
:egg:, you yourself stated in your words that Fear was a "False Alarm"....

Thats not what i said at all. what i sad is that in the case of irrational fears the fear associated with the object is a false alarm, meaning that there is no inherent danger. I do not mean that fear is  instinct rather that most of the time they go hand in hand, fear being the trigger for the instinctive response. When you step out in front of a car, its the fear of death which triggers your instinctive response to move rapdiy out of the way to safety. Its the fact that you were unaware in the first place, that you stepped out in front of the moving vehicle, the fear saves your life by kick starting your instinctive responses. At least that how ive observed it anyway.

I apollogize if I miss interpreted your words meanings, it did seed this whole topic of interest(for me anyways)....
.
But, is it fear, or is it awareness(knowledge of danger) that set the survival mode on....?

But there can be a seperation of "thrill" and "fear"....  Lets use rollercoasters for an example....  If it was a "doubting" fear for the ride, instincts would take over and make one not ride a roller coaster - as some people just won't....  But for the "Thrill Seeker", it is not an instinctual fear for survival that drives them to ride the ride, it is a confident excitement....
.
Fear seems to "rule" the instincts of a person, where as instincts seem to "rule" that of the thrill seeker....  (influence, or the lack of....)

.
Peer pressure, or an under-estimation of fear....?

It would appear that Excitement / Thrill has turned into uncontrolable flowing   FEAR....(?)
