ok guys, you've all convinced me. you know, now that you have explained this evolution thing out to me (I guess I really didn't understand it properly before) it doesn't even seem to scary.

Kinda makes sense... actually.

Well, I'm not sure how you differentiate observation from measurement, but the quantum eraser experiment does seem to have some interesting implications to that effect.

Quantum physics shows us that observation has a direct effect on physical reality.

No it doesn't, quantum physics makes predictions about the activity of extremely small subdivisions of matter.  The stuff about our "observation" directly affecting reality is a load of new age BS.  Let me guess, you watched the What the Bleep Do We Know cult film and had your mind blown?  Show me an example of how "observation has a direct effect on physical reality".

yeah shivas you need to catch up on your quantum physics because that's not what it tells us. Like said above people love to take the hard work and dedication of scientist and twist them into an easily digestible mess of knowledge that other people want to hear.

fuck where we come from where...where the fuck did the platypus come from a semi-aquatic mammal egg-laying, venomous, duck-billed, beaver-tailed cluster fuck of a animal?

My hypothesis concerning that is that the setup with the circular polarizers is non-intrusive enough that the interference pattern is maintained, whereas the non-linear optical device with its "spontaneous parametric down conversion" process paired with the intrusion of the "photon"-detecting tractor is just a bungled experiment, that's why the interference pattern is destroyed.  I don't have the means to test my hypothesis but in any given scenario, I am highly skeptical of any theory that suggests that the act of "observing" is an integral part in the chain of causality.

Perhaps, but I make every effort not to allow that fear to cloud my discernment or to prevent me from learning new information or having new experiences, which you appear to have done in this case so I do applaud you for that.

@reeferaddict69: You don't really think that evolution is nonsense do you  cause the very thought of someone denying it is so lulzy.

Its not like I came out of the woods with a mystical book that has all the keys and answers to the world. There is an ever increasing body of evidence of epic proportions that describes the way evolution works.  And why is it so goddamn hard to believe we came out of monkeys?

We didn't come from monkeys.  We both came from a common ancestor.

I already explained that in another post

Because if monkeys did evolve into us, it makes no sense for their to still be monkeys too
