typical full fat milk contains 4g of fat per 100ml. how is a product that is only 4% fat not considered low fat? a glass of full cream milk has maybe 10g of fat which for a person with an estimated energy requirement of 9000kJ is about 1/7th of their daily fat requirement. if your eating a balanced diet full fat dairy is a non issue

Sorry, I was referring to saturated fat... my bad. Saturated fat is the type of fat that warrants the most attention; it does more harm than simply facilitating heart disease and raising your cholesterol.

An 8oz glass of 2% (low fat) milk contains roughly 5g's of fat, 3g's of which is saturated fat. That's 15% of your recommended, maximum daily intake. Somewhat high... On top of this, they say you should drink 3 glasses of milk a day... So if you're drinking 2%, that's half your daily intake right there.

You're right that if you're eating a balanced diet that this type of thing isn't an issue, but let's face it: How many people really eat a balanced diet?

And by the previous logic, say you drank two glasses of 2% milk a day, that's about it in the fat department... One typical grilled cheese sandwich with butter and american cheese is roughly 50% (10g's) of saturated fat itself. You'd should really be balancing it out heavily with green veggies and such! Remember, 20g is the MAXIMUM... So, really, for health's sake, it'd be wise to eat a little less than that.... Maybe 15-18g's.

It is kinda fatty.... But the fat-content of milk isn't why milk is bad for you. It's just a somewhat negative side issue.

Who is this "daily value"  information coming from?  The same people that say my diet should consist of mainly grains?  On the topic of foods not meant for human ingestion grains are right up there with milk...

Except that grains pass right through you and actually help you digest, milk does the exact opposite... this is where the casein comes in.

Yeah, I actually read quite a few articles about the "healthiest" diet, and it is hard to weed out fact from fiction... When I am done my courses on health I will have to throw up a post about which diet is the healthiest  according to what I have learned without any bias...  Though I will incorporate a lot more than just what I learn in my courses, the daily recommended intake of vitamins and minerals could be just as flawed as our food chart...

Raw milk is a very healthy food. People who are lactose intolerant usually have no problems with raw milk. Pasteurization destroys the enzymes found in milk that allow it to be digestible.

Saturated fat is not bad for you. Quite the contrary. The idea that saturated fat = bad has been long touted but never really backed by much good science.

Dude, it makes no logical sense to drink milk.... If it doens't make sense to eat something and our ancestors didn't do it it probably isn't good for you... Would you drink cat milk? What about rat milk?

Don't get caught in the trap of one diet fits all. I would not be here were it not for my ancestors eating fucktons (that's the technical word for it) of fat fried in lard with dollops of cream and a little bit of sugar and a lot of alcohol. Except the Quaker side of my family. I doubt they drank that much.

It isn't my place to say what is right or wrong really but that is my opinion because sometimes people just feel really down and they want a way out of that moment... I have been there, and thanks to me not knowing an easy way I am still alive and now I am loving life! If someone wanted to die bad enough they would find a way no matter how hard it was to find, making it easy just means that more people that might have been able to get a handle on their issues.... Life is about perseverance, but when someone thinks they have found the "easy way out" often it seems like quite an attractive prospect...

Again these are opinion based statements, but I feel that they are true and correct....

How can opinion based statements be universally true? All they are is a particular pattern in your brain that makes you feel a certain way. We are all going to die relatively soon, so I don't see how you could say it is objectively better to postpone the end result, even with the possibility of some temporary happiness.

The people that are going to die will always people the people that aren't ready, regardless of the challenge.

How can advising someone on how to off they're self be right? Tell me that, If your mother or girlfriend or someone you depending on decided for all of ten minutes they wanted to die so I told them how to kill themselves would you be ok with that?

In a way nothing can ever be universally true, but it doesn't change the fact that there is nothing right about showing someone the easy way out in their moment of weakness. How many lives has that forum changed for the worse I wonder?
