I don't think you should fuck with psychedelics because of the fact you have ocd.
No you are not fucked. Mescaline is a very safe and has minuscule if any brain damage after one use.:shrug:
Perhaps you cant psychologically handle drugs:ooo:

I would try shrooms once(low dose) and see if you can do some type of ocd therapy while on them. If you feel crazy days after just stop using completely.

It's probably better for your OCD in really minute doses. Doses that wont make you completely trip. I'm no psychologist though.

Its quite common symptom.

OP have you tried therapy? That usually works WAY better than drugs.

I don't really think it was that stupid of an idea. If you educate yourself properly and know what you want from the experience, and you are very cautious... We all have a right to explore the unknown. It isn't as stupid as ingesting psychedelics without knowing a single thing about them, just for fun, with no consideration for dosage, just trusting that a friend has given you the right amount. That is stupid and people do it all the time.


I think it might have been a good idea to start with smaller amounts. To see if there is a beneficial effect from sub-psychedelic levels. It sounds like there would be; since the anti-OCD effects came into play before the trip actually built up any intensity. I fully believe in the potential for psychedelics to help with OCD and also the potential to make it worse - I have seen both happen to a friend with OCD. I think the key here is very low doses and very sparingly.


Forgive me if I am giving bad advice here. But I think that if a person has OCD, and thinks psychedelics may hold some sort of help, and that person educates him or herself properly beforehand, and titrates the dose properly (IE starting with sub-active levels and increasing slowly over time to feel out the effects), I think that is perfectly reasonable, and probably something I would do even if I were in your position, just much more cautiously at first.
The only thing I think you did wrong was starting with 10 inches; From what I understand that can be a moderately heavy bridgesii dose, at least for a first timer.

im not going to say whether you should be tripping with that disorder as i really don't know, but it doesn't sound like a great idea. however, there is no way you have suffered brain damage. don't worry about it. psychedelics can have a tendency to make people think that it's the root of their problems. for example, i've heard people say they think acid made them stupid, have bad days, etc. the reality is that they were never really all that smart and everybody has bad days, they just never really took notice of it until they tripped.

You are fine. Psychedelics don't cause memory loss and it's probably just your OCD making you paranoid over little slips of the mind.

In fact I'd say you are the exact opposite of fucked! You've managed to find a medicine that could potentially increase your quality of life and really treat your illness!

Here's my advice:

- Learn how to grow mushrooms. They last shorter than mescaline (4-8 hours). And growing them is really easy and fun!

- Next time try doing a low dose. More like a gram or two of psilocybe cubensis. If this becomes your actual medicine for keeping your OCD under control then you're not going to want to be full on tripping balls all the time. Trust me, it becomes psychologically taxing and can lead to more mental problems than you started with.

- If your doctor isn't willing to listen to you when you tell them that you've found a drug that works, then ditch them. YOU know what's good for you, and don't allow some asshole doctor try to convince you that they're the expert of YOUR life. There are a lot of young therapists who understand, and are eager about, the potential for psychedelics in treating disorders like yours. You may even have to find a therapist who does underground therapy. I can't tell you how you would do this, but I do know they exist. Finding a doctor who can guide you in proper and effective use of these drugs will be really important. Self medication can be dangerous if you don't understand what you're doing.

Anyways, I'm SOOO happy to hear that you've found a medicine that works for you! Just one more reason that I love psychedelics! They bring so much happiness, wisdom, and growth into this world!

Personally if you're worried about brain damage I would not take that drug.
But mescaline and psilocibin have been proven very safe neuraotoxically speaking. Honestly I'd be more worried about getting high blood pressure from mcdonalds or not exercising enough before worrying about physical brain damage from psychedelics.
But you do have ocd so that might be worsened or improved by psychedelics.
I think you should be more worried about psychedelics affecting your ocd then giving you real cognitive damage:sunny:

Honestly...Yes mescaline has been known about for longer.

But I think in terms of physical side effects, especially the way it affects your circulatory system...Psilocybin is probably a lot more benign.

Mescaline has a much lower relative LD50 doesn't it? I know it causes vasoconstriction and heart rate and blood pressure increases. All psychedelics do...But it is a phenethylamine and often described as having a very speedy physical effect...

I have a close friend with terrible OCD so I feel where you're coming from. Please realize that your memory is fine.

My lady friend is a physicist and we trip together often, and beyond the day after, there is no residual memory impairment.

I am glad that this trial worked for you. I would recommend finding a medical specialist who uses psychedelic therapy, as it sounds like that would work well for you. But you taking it on your own has led to obsessive thoughts in itself.

Mescaline is very old and very safe, nobody has been harmed from eating a cactus for thousands of years, you're not the first!

I suffer from OCD, a lot less now than I had as a child.
I'm not sure if it was my drug use in my teens that helped me, but from a young age up to my pre-teens, I had strong solipsistic feelings, and also had this thing where I believed if I were not to eat salami every night (I am being completely serious!) that I would die the next day! I also had to make sure every time I entered a building, I should land with both feet or I wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything. I also had a problem with my sisters hands, due to her (supposedly) never washing her hands after she went to the toilet, I believed if they were to touch me, something bad would happen, or if she touched anything I owned, I would throw it in the bin!
To this day, I have suppressed most of my symptoms, but it does get triggered when I am nervous. It's like a barrier that I believe if I didn't do something the right way (like the positioning of an object), I would fuck up with what I need to do. Also, still to this day, I cannot bear my sister to touch anything in my home xD.
I find though, psychedelics do offer relief, and marijuana at times can aggravate my OCD if I am not relaxed. It may be possible that my use of psychedelics whilst growing up accustomed me to live with my OCD better, or I could have just naturally conditioned myself to affect me less.
I would try with a smaller dose next time, and increase from there. When anything effects me mentally, I tend to write what I want to achieve and how, and then try getting insight on them whilst tripping in a comfortable and calm place (like local woods) and walk with a journal and enjoy nature.
As the effects of mescaline last a long time, then maybe the anti-ocd effects would last longer if you take the lowest dose for the effect?

There is no evidence that would suggest mescaline can possible produce physical damage to the brain. This also applies to other popular psychedelics such as psilocybin, LSD and DMT.

Don't worry about it. Your concern should be that you have not researched this stuff enough. Obviously you have done some research as you can recall outcomes from certain studies and whatnot, but do some more. If you had researched psychedelics thoroughly enough you would know that they won't give you brain damage. Even in utterly, insanely high doses, your brain structures will remain intact and undamaged. :thumbup:


I have read quite a few things on psilocybin helping treat and even cure people of severe OCD, I presume mescaline would work just as effectively. Personally I believe you are doing a good thing for yourself here but you could go about it in a better way. That is you could find a therapist/doctor willing to help treat you in this manner (will be difficult to find one though). Or on the other hand you could simply further educate yourself on psychedelics and what benefits they can provide, and how to avoid potential side-effects (it's really not hard). By potential side effects I'm talking about having a "bad trip". Know what you're doing and why you're doing and I assure you, you won't go down that road :smile:

If you're not sure where to start in terms of researching psychedelics (there's a lot of misleading/false information and pure assumptions on the topic) then just ask. We will be sure to point you in the right direction.
