Bad Trip Memory Loss

Back in the summer of 94, I tried lsd for the first time. I always told myself that I would never touch the stuff. But my friends started to it and then I got tickets to see Pink Floyd so I gave in. A week before the Floyd concert I thought I would try a test run so see how it was. I didn?t want to be a virgin tripper for the Floyd show. So I took my first dose and had a grand old time. Dosed for Floyd and it was truly amazing to my 15 year brain. So for the next 6 months or so, I was dosing 4-6 times a month. The source I had usually had the same kind of blotter so the dosage was very consistent. Worked my way up to 5 hits after a few months I was totally blowing my mind. Had some incredible trips. All this led up to December 94 when me and my buddy were going to trip after I got off of work that night. I got to his house had 4 hits of dancing skeletons blotter, we were each going to take 2. To my surprise he had also picked up some doses. His blotter was all black and was called dark side of the moon. So we each took 4 hits, 2 of each kind of blotter and within 20 minutes it hit me hard. Within an hour, I had a head full of acid and was tripping hard. I remember about up to this point, I remember telling my friend that I didn?t feel good, remember him telling me not to bum out his trip. I remember telling him I see blood everywhere, and that is about it. My next memory is waking up in the hospital handcuffed to a hospital bed with my parents looking over me. An entire 5 hours of my life I have no memory of. I wanted to know if this is common for a bad trip. When I awoke I had no effects of the acid, whatever drugs they had given me had killed off the trip. I had to piss in a bottle in front of a cop before they unhand cuffed me to the bed. My friend on the other hand was fine he was just tripping. Sadly this was the end of our friendship. I did some not nice things while I was freaking out. This incident was the end of my tripping on acid for 3 years until they re released the star wars movies. Probably dosed 20 times since 97 the last time being 10/01 watched the Canadian dvd of memento which let u watch the movie in reverse order, they later released a special edition in the us that let u do it too. So again anyonelse experience memory lose during a bad trip? Never had a bad dream or flashback, the things I did and said were pretty bad. Thanks for reading, Scott

It has been known to happen.

A certain person I know, took 15 hits of acid(this was back in the 70s), and instead of 'snapping too' in a hospital....he snapped out of it, when he was on the side of building, using only his fingers and toes to hold him. He had scaled the building with just his hands and feet. His fingers and feet were bleeding quite a bit, and he ripped many of the nails off his hands and feet.

High Dose lsd trips do carry risks. This person almost died. He snapped too...and he was on the side of a building, near the top(big building...like roughly 15 stories). Imagine waking up on the side of a building?...he almost fell. Very very scary incident

It's happened to a few people man. Just make sure you try and keep a good setting, good friends(a sitter perhaps) to take care of ya.

i've been so fucked up that, and confused i dind't remeber what happened durring a trip. i had to peice it together from thing my friend told me the next day. as time went on i remebered mroe and more, and eventually got a clear picture of jsut what happened

I lost my car one night during a shroom trip. I found it on the side of the road near the field I woke up in. I can't believe I was driving it to begin with.

I never talked to the kid again, his parents called 911, the cops and ambulence came, his room was searched, he had drugs, he blamed me, I appartly attacked his dad, a painting fell on his toe and he got cut. All in all not fun. This is all from what he told other people who told me. He didnt want to talk to me after this. The next day I had to knock on his door to pick up my stuff, his mom answered the door and asked me how I was doing. At this point I didnt know what I had done, but she was nice. It has snowed 5 inches or so, So I had to dig my car out of their driveway, I saw my friend look out his window, he was pissed, he went to a different school than me so to this day I never had any contact with him, sucky situation foresure.

I remember my acid-days, and oddly-enough, during my acid-binge I never lost any time while ON the acid, I just don't remember SHIT about that entire half-year OTHER than the acid :wink: which is part of why I stopped looking for it after a while.

I've never experienced "lost time" from shrooms except short periods during ego-loss experiences where I'm glued to the floor anyway so I wouldn't be able to cause a bunch of trouble hehe :wink:

One crazy DXM trip... I don't remember a thing but one very insane cab ride home, the driver thought I was just extremely drunk (little did he know...!).. And I was very uncomfortable and itchy the whole time. All else that I know of the trip is in an AIM log of the conversation my friend Lux had with me (she sent it to me later) - that i have here.

This idea that acid is like beer and that you can take "massive doses" doesn't really work. With beer 10 pints will always have a bigger effect than 1 pint. Acid isn't like that. There's a maximum dose of something like 500 ug beyond which anymore has no effect other than perhaps lasting a little longer because you've got more floating around in your system. The brain only has so many receptors. Tim Leary did a lot of experimentation on this in the 60's - he would give people 10 times as much as they thought they were getting and it would have no more effect than a small dose. If you tell people they are getting a big dose then it might have an effect but it's purely placebo.

So if the kid took "15 hits" and climbed buildings it was just a placebo effect - he'd told himself he was taking a big dose and would go crazy and believed it. Sounds like the kid had issues anyway.

If I slipped you 50 hits one time...and 10 hits another time....and you didn't know how much you were getting...you'd definately notice the difference.

Issues?  The 'kid'(was like 18 at the time)...WANTED to climb the building.  He was a crazy fucker.  It got him off.  He sat down after taking that acid, and drank a couple jugs of beer...he was an adrenaline junky.  It got him just pumping.  He later found out, that night, he had layed a few woman, won a chess set...and got a handgun with a phone number on it.

This kid didn't have issues...he was a very known, respectable guy.  Bigtime dealer.  He was just an adrenaline junkie...and he wanted to climb that building.  He wanted a head full of acid, and other things....cause it gets him pumped.  People were crazy back than :wink: lol.  He just woke up on the side of a building...was a rush.


Just because your particularly(no one is really) not into doing that shit...doesn't mean someone has issues.  He was a very reputable person, with lots of friends and such.  This guy went hard on lots of drugs(mainly just psychedelic)...and 3 months of his life are unaccounted for.  He remembers bits and pieces.  But he 'woke up' one day, sitting at a desk.  All these people were walking around and saying 'hi' and stuff.  Like they knew him.  And he was just like 'whoa fuck where am I'.  Than the boss came to him at that very moment, "yeah, good work.  Yeah, we decided to give you the raise.  Here's your keys to your truck.  And your crew is waiting".  In those 3 months, he got a job at cnc rail(big company)...and got his own crew and company truck..and was making like 25 bucks an hour.  Imagine one day, just 'snapping out of it'...and having all that shit.  Major trip eh?

But that night, the idiot went to go celebrate(for having this job, truck, etc)....and he went drinking and driving with the truck...got into an accident.  Got fired.  Shitty luck eh?  Well, his fault

Issues? lol...well, I'd like to have those so called issues though.  Led a pretty crazy life...lots of experiences, good things(good jobs), met good people..etc.

He was on a big psychedelic binge...mushrooms, lsd, etc......and he 'snapped out of it'.....and he had all this shit. It really scared him...so after he crashed his vehicle that night...he went and got a regular job and raised a family.

He doesn't remember much. Just little bits and pieces. The building thing...he remembers being on a plane, and thats about it.

You have to admit...that would be scary as hell.

lol ask me if I really give a fuck if you believe me. I am telling the truth...and I was letting the orginal poster know...it can happen...for more than one night even.

Leary tried it dozens of times. Not one person could ever tell the difference unless they were told they were getting a big dose. There's a maximum of around 500ug. Anymore has no effect unless you know it's a "big dose" and you convince yourself it'll drive you mad.

I believe you. Just not sure what effect the 50 hits had on him. Maybe he'dve climbed the building if he'd just had a lot to drink.

Well i've taken some pretty large doses of LSD, probably a lot bigger than this guy ever took.  I usually just lay down on a couch and close my eyes. Always been aware that climbing a building on acid wouldn't be a very safe thing to do  :laugh:

yes it's not safe climbing a building...but just because you aren't into it...doesn't mean someone back in the 70s wasn't into it. Doesn't make them have 'issues'

And it was 15 hits, not 50. I don't see the big deal in 15. I do not know why that has become the focus of the conversation. It's like all you guys care about is 'how much someone took'. I was telling the original poster a true story of a guy who took some acid(I gave the dose...which was 15 hits), and I went on with my story about how he had memory loss.

Yeah he was crazy...but fuck, there is lots of craziER people out there. lol I just use that word..because it really trips me out someone would do that. He's crazy to me. lol

The most likely reason you can't remember that evening back in '94 was because of all the drugs the hospital pumped you with. The undoubtedly gave you a shitload of tranquilizers, considering you woke up handcuffed to the bed. You must have been very aggressive and hostile while you were freaking out, so they pumped you full of drugs to calm you down. This has happened to two of my friends in the past at music festivals. One time my friend ate a 5 strip and a 1/4 of fungus and he went ballistic. Couldn't take it, just went crazy and he got strapped down and taken to the hospital. He told me he couldn't remember much of his trip except that he had fun for a while: He got pumped full of tranqs. Another time my friend took a 5 strip and got caught in a mental loop. He was running around telling people he had fixed himself and he would constantly undergo a death/rebirth cycle and something to do with winning life. He would shout and run up to people and tell them all this. Anyways he ran off and got lost after a while and he made his way back to camp in the morning sometime. He had lost his shorts which had 200 dollars, a ten-strip, 3/8 of fungus, and a 1/2 zip of headdies in it and didn't really recall what had happened during the night. Later we were walking by the medical tent and he had a sudden recollection. He remembers being tied down at the tent with some other odd memories. He too was given drugs and it obscured his memory of the trip tremendously. This seems to be the same case with you. In some cases it might be a good thing if the trip was so traumatic that it would be better off if the person didn't remember it, but I would certainly be pissed if they ever did that to me. It sucks that you don't really know what happened, but your not the only one...Hope this helped.  :grin:

Yes, acid has a "saturation point", but nobody knows exactly where it is.

It's most likely well above 500ug.

Not according to Leary. It was in his book "Flashbacks". Not totally positive but i think it was 500ug. Certainly wasn't any big amount of acid. I was surprised at how low the level was. Beyond that dose no-one tripped any harder unless you told them they were getting a massive dose.

There's also a paper by Klee from 1961 where he says the saturation point is 400-500ug. "Beyond this it may be prolonged but does not furthur alter the experience"

Anyways, it was probably a placebo effect for them. They thought they were getting a small dose, so they wouldn't notice an extra 200ugs.

I don't care what leary says, I would definatly notice the difference between 500ugs and 1000ugs

i would like to share a trip with you.
i havnt been able to talk to anyone about it yet, as it still fucks me up.
i took 2 drops of liquid on top of half a g of MDMA,for my first time at a festival, and the rest i cant remeber, i attacked people and got the shit beaten out of me, but i can recall anything, i got arrested and remeber being dead in the back of the police van not knowing who i was or if i was alive or dead, the same thing kept happening in my head over and over again.
all the time while i was attacking people,a nd getting beaten up i was in a cartoon world, where i could kinda change anything i wanted to, it was like a 3rd dimension.
