Ego Loss
    #1280038 - 02/05/03 12:54 AM (20 years, 11 months ago)

I've heard alot of people talk about ego loss and how you loose your ego when tripping enough times.
Can anybody explain this? How does this happen and how does it feel like when this happens, is it really that positive?
Does anybody have anything to say about this?
Thanx

C'mon this guy just wants to hear it from a person, not off the computer. If you think that your experiencing ego loss, you're not. Its kind of like whistling, hard to explain-easy to do once you get the hang of it. Ego loss= YOU are GONE = just float in space for a while. As soon as you realize what happened, you lose it. I've only experienced it a few solid times out of about 100 mushroom trips I've taken. If you want instant, almost total ego loss, just vaporize some Salvia and say goodbye!

Every time I've dosed 7 grams or more on an empty stomach, have been extreme ego loss experiences for me. I dont have to meditate on it, I don't have to be in a dark room. I also have a very low tolerance for shrooms, too. I can see INTENSE visuals on 1gram.

You're right, you don't know you lost your ego until you realized you lost it and once you realize it you have it again.

I just float off into this realm and when I realize where im at its like Im back to my body before I am done thinking to myself that it happened.

For me Iv only had snaps of it on and off but what I have had always leaves me hungry to try for it next time.

oh I can remember bits and peices of times when I believe i might have had ego death but I mean that I just flow with it.

all the times I thought I have had ego loss I have just slipped into this trance state where I just go with the visuals ... I dont think anything else of it... and im in an entire other world and there comes a point where im like holy shit and realize that it isnt normal , which is usually when I realize i was slipping into something, and I wake out of the trance into the world.

I can hang onto the feelings and memories of it but I can never reinstate myself into that "trance state" willfully.. I always have to zone out into it which just happens.

I've only experienced it once with salvia. It's an amazing experience that you'll never forgete. I forgote who I was and I forgote that I had smoked salvia. Just floating in space as others have put it. Yes, you don't know it till its gone. Afterwards I felt like a new person and I had a completely different outlook on life and existence.

This has been a big topic lately on here. Ego loss can be acheived through many different drugs mainly psychedelics an disociatives. Anyway i have gotten there twice on shrooms an twice on E an  a few times on pcp, tons of times on lsd an once from k. The way i always know i have reached ego loss is when I have dosed high an go way out of my mind.  on mushrooms it is when i have truely gone to another place an then realize i'm there, i then notice that i know nothing an feel nothing but fear of not knowing these things or ever coming back. I have gotten these same affects from the other drugs listed above just with there own different special affects. The two times i got there on E where very weird it was just like a salvia experience an lasted  just about as long. I got there by being passed out an it was awsome, the problem is that i have never gotten back there with E since the last time an since i stopped rollin.

Okay juicemonkey, I'll keep the search button in mind.
I guess in a way ego death is like Astral Projecting. Anyone done this? That must be really strange on shrooms. For those of you who dont know what Astral Projecting is its leaving your body in a meditative state.

This might sound stupid, But I hope this goes in the category of there's no such thing stupid questions. But can one experience ego death on alcohol if you have no tolerance to alcohol or just never drink? And are there other simple chemicals like thc and alcohol that cause ego death if the person is sensitive to the chemical?  And last question,  can some one experience ego death without drugs if they have a personality disorder? Is it like dissociation?  There i go asking more questions lol ^_^ like can fear or ptsd cause ego death?

ego loss is a catch all term used in different context situations

in negatives it could mean going psycho, experiencing perception changes, losing grasp of reality, or what is believed as being normal sober does not exist anymore [this might differ if you permanently or temporarily lose your ego, usually it is temporary once You come down but You could permanently lose your ego, in extreme cases]

in positive cases losing your ego could mean your usual selfish ego softens and you become lighter in heart

I've been in a state a couple times, were there was nothing. No thought, no feelings, no eyes, no ears, no mind, no me, no world, no nothing.

I don't know how to describe it, but what is even more strange is the old mind fuck about how can there be nothing, because nothing has to be something. But no, it doesn't, it's nothing.

Also, if I couldn't have thoughts, then how did I know I wasn't having thoughts?

Once again, scrogg all that noise. It just happened.

I certainly wasn't there.

Re: Ego Loss [Re: Sub-Easy]
    #27564043 - 12/01/21 12:58 AM (2 years, 1 month ago)

That's kinda not true.

What really happened was, all that, plus I really injoyed it, but after years of being there I thought, I guess I can just stay here, then more years went by, or probably thousands of years, and I thought, could I go back, should I go back, I don't have a reason to, and this is nice, but doesn't make much sense for there to be nothing for ever.

So first I got an identity, I don't know if I choose it, but I guess if I was god, then it would make sense that my first identity would be that of God, so I was now god's identity god, then I made everything out of data. I just started creating all the data of existence and then I folded it in layers, made of all possible alternate dimensions,(it was pretty instant, but took longer the more progress I made) then gave all the possible dimensions, alternate time lines, from infinite beginning to infinite end, then I told myself while I was god, that I would have to agree to forget I was god (but of course I didn't, and that's were I made my mistake), and then I was me again. But unfortunately, god doesn't want me to know I'm god, he just wants to injoy being me.

He didn't actually make infinite stuff and time, he actually only made enough for it to be so complicated that he could lie to himself and make himself believe it was to complicated for him to understand it all. Of course it wasn't. But it was a lot to keep track of. That's where making me was helpful to him. He couldn't live in his creation, because he couldn't injoy it, being that he knew it all, but by becoming me, he dumbed his self down so he could injoy it. I understood all this before I became me, but I was supposed to forget it, and after I became me, the human in me didn't want to forget it, because, hay, that's cool to a human. When I was god and me I agreed with us that I would forget, but I broke my end of the deal, when we made the disconnection.

I should also add, this exact trip happened two nights in a row, with no differences that I know of. Just the exact same trip twice.

Because I wasn't god in the beginning, when I was nothing, I don't know what that was, I guess it was god having ego death.

So I guess you could say I had ego death, and I had ego death also while being god.

I've, also been me and met God a different time I tripped before this.

And I met Jesus too another time.

Reminds me of the time I died on heroin for 4 minutes (minus the thoughts part) and the ambulance had to restart my heart with diffibrulators.

It was quite peaceful being out, coming back sucked though.

i like the idea of temporarily softening your ego as often as possible with psychs and taking breaks to regain energy to consistently and radically use a way to help heal your ego like mdma or lsd often to bring about more positivity and empathy for others

you bring up ‘ego loss’ in a psychedelic drug forum

might as well call alcohol and cocaine ‘ego gain’

I just figured out how to do the quote thing

I'm stupid.

I think you are right about softly breaking the ego more regularly. Soft reset.

I don't have experience with that, but humans are notorious for needing constant remindres.

A little nudge to break things up, without totally obliterating them.

Sounds reasonable.

Mescaline is good for empathy and human connection. Maybe a mix between alcohol, in it's ability to promote inhabition, and MDMA, in it's ability to feel warmth towards others.

I always argue it's never ego death, but ego vacation.

You return to a baseline of awareness, and you have to have a steady, constant context to even recall your trip.

That being your memory, but YOU have to be present to experience that in the first place.

You might overcome some deep rooted psychological/subconscious issues from a trip, but I'd assert your baseline awareness isn't permanently altered with a loss of sense of self at all. You just might not be able to tolerate certain activities or situations the same as before, because pyshcs tend to expand your awareness. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, as they say.
