Calling all Washington inhabitants ~#~#~ Gorge

What do you all know about the Gorge Amphitheater in George? I've been dreaming of getting a chance to make my way out to washington for ages and then I heard about the Gorge a few years ago and the dream has only gotten better and better. I finally locked down some vacation time at my job after a long wait and the timing is now!

I'm checkin' it out

Saw Tom Petty at the Gorge.  It was absolutely amazing.  The scenery is beaautiful too, looking down into the canyon.

If you go, make sure you bring lots of water. Its about 40 celcius, There are no trees there= no shade.  I got really drunk really fast trying to beat the heat with just beer.

I've seen Phish play there a couple times. It's beautiful, especially during sunset.

Where does the sunset at this time of year? Is it more behind the stage or behind the crowd?

Well the last time I saw them there was in the summer of '98 and it set behind the stage. It went great with my head full of acid.

Any tips or tricks to the gorge? Good entrances, bad entrances, good spots for the best sound quality?

Bump for less than a week away! We've got our camping pass all lined up but we are thinking of just waiting til we get there for tickets. Seems like that'll probably work out due to the capacity of the place.

From what I've heard there's a trail that goes down to the columbia river... Anyone know if you can get down on some swimming at the river or is it sketchy?

I've been wanting to see a concert at the gorge for a while. Havn't had the chance yet though.

I know it's only about a 3 hour drive too. Waiting for a good show and some friends who want to go.

im going to be there. i try to make it to the gorge as much as i can. i've only been once this year (sasquatch), it twas off the fucking hook, good sir. flying lotus on my 20th bday!!!!

im probably going to be hitchhiking up with a good friend, but if not i'll be going alone. i defiantely want to meet any shroomerites that r gonna be there

It's in one of the hottest and also most redneck parts of the state.  Be careful.  The local LEOs like to use concerts there as a source of revenue.  If it's a daytime concert, be sure to bring lots of water and something for shade.

the cop precense is not going to be any more or less than your normal party venue. people have been doing this @ the gorge for a long time, so the cops and security actually kind of know what's going on, and i've noticed that if you at least attempt discretion, they will give you some leway for instance: if you get caught smoking pot they will just tell you to hide it, and sneaking things IN is not exactly rocket science. then again ive only been going to concerts there the last 5 years, maybe in years past the security has been harsh? it's not your private land type of party, but it's definately not a place you need to worry about having your party ruined.

attempting to bring in large ammounts of drugs and sell them is probably another story, but isn't this *always* another story?

I wish I had the money to go. I was suposed to go to sound garden last weekend and try MDMA for the first time. Bills are always getting in the way of fun though :frown:
