What a weekend! moe. rocked! the crowd was mostly locals, a few heads here and there but a pretty tame group filling the lower section of the stephens auditorium. moe. took off a little slow not doing much with Captian America(nice tour opener!)or Akimbo(short bass slap solo) but by Buster>Spine of a Dog they had remembered who they were and took us to some interesting places. Then came this second set, a pschedelic dance party my friends and I won't forget for awhile, non stop balls out jamming for over an hour with a huge St. Augustine and a bad ass slide solo by Chuck. The music didn't stop untill the ran off before the encore which was a nice treat itself... I hadn't noticed they left Moth unfinished and it offered a bit of mind fuck to thte night.

3/29/03 Stephens Auditorium, Iowa State University - Ames, IA

Got up around 1 and drove to Iowa City for P-funk and I had no idea what I was in for, after a dozen or so musicians got on stage they started to lay a nice groove everyonce in awhile the bottom would drop out with burst of energy that would get most uptight concert goer bouncing around. After what seemed like a couple tunes I heard one of the dirtiest nasty guitar solos of my life followed by a rowdy old man in a rasta marley shirt walking on stage. The crowd went nuts! I couldn't believe it I figured the crowd would stand stairing at the stage all night. Everyone got into it, I noticed very few with there feet stuck to the floor. George put on a great show and his presence was very noticiable in the music. He even took a blunt from a audience member and proceded to smoke the entire thing over the next few tunes walking around to give his band members a hit each. 2 fucking cops in the entire place and they let the free-for-all go on. I could go on about this show all day, they will definitly have place on my bands to see for along time, still not sure what happened in that hall, I have to see them again.

the bela fleck show on the 31st was truly amazing..I cant wait to see them at Bonnaroo...and the dead..Im glad they are having an east coast tour this summer...ill definitlty be going to alot of the east coast shows.

Adom - moe. in ames was awesome!! i always love the hometown throw down. I saw them in feb. in Az. too, they tore that place apart.

as for the summer plans i am going to go to 10,000 lakes and do the bonner springs>alpinex2>deercreekx3 shows. should be pretty fun. Derek Trucks is coming to Clear Lake sometime soon to, not sure of the exact date though, I will more than likely be at that show too.


oh yea - i haven't seen the official setlist for the ames moe. show but i think that the encore was sweet emotion > moth reprise. I am almost positive that they finished the first moth.

Ya know, that would make alot more sense to be a reprise. I want the tapes to that show. They are fucking tearing it up lately, I seen them in Chi town for NYE and couldn't believe what went on in the 2 years I hadn't seen them, they are definitly evolving.

i'm catching moe tonite in nashville (bet on a moth opener.. i've seen moe. 7 times now and haven't missed the opener yet).

my band is opening for derek trucks here in bowling green in august.

I saw moe. for the first time in columbus oh this past friday.

they certainly rocked it!

ended with radiohead's 'karma police' which was very cool.

this summer, I am going to make it to Bonaroo (got my ticket wee!) and hopefully the Phish shows in indy.

yeah, opening for derek will be great fun, we're gonna work up his band's version of Use Me Up (bill withers) and see if he'll set in with us for a use me up>>one way out encore. our original stuff is improving i guess, but the conflicting egos become SO much more apparent when trying to arrange original material. its rough. i wonder if the band will still be around when derek gets to town.

i can't believe i missed the opening call (not that nebraska wasn't a cool opener, its one of my favorites. the only calls i got right last nite were crab eyes and st augustine (eight shows, eight st augustines). but, i did get to eat a HELLACIOUSLY good hit of blotter. tripped for about fourteen hours on one hit of paper. had a great time at the show, lots of fun, even though it was probably the poorest moe. musically i've seen.

Bonnaroo and Phish 2 days at Alpine Vally 3 fuckin soon to be incredeble shows at Deer Creek but i guess its Virizon Wireless center or some bullshit now.

ACK!!!!  I had forgotten all about the Dead tour!!!! Well, looks like I am gonna hafta squeeze another trip to Milwaukee then to St. Louis into my schedule!  Weeeee!! :grin:

which show(s) are you going too? I will be in Austin for the 4th, although i can't make anyothers from their list they have announced so far. I will see them on the other leg of their tour though for sure! Plus i will be attending Bonnaroo

i just caught Bela + Tones on 3/24 in baltimore, and dave matthews and tim reynolds on in Ohio on 3/31.  both were steller shows.
a lot of ekoostik hookah shows coming up.  4 that i'm going to.  hoping to catch SCI a few times again this summer, maybe some moe. too.
already got my DMB tickets to the Gorge in Washington state.  best venue i've ever been to/on the planet!
anyone ever visit trip & emily's in WV??  im about 30 miles from there :laugh:

Hell yeah man I can't wait to see Bela at the roo, right now I'm getting really psyched to see Panic for two nights in may. Gonna be smokin' I've been checking the setlist as of late and I'm really pissed I missed the opener and last weekend the chi town throw down, looks like the ball is up and rolling.


Now anyone heard anything from the tour?? sound as good as it looks on paper?

Im going to see Moe. in Gville, FL 4/26. Im pretty excited, ive ever seen them before.

And Phish in July. I'm thinking of picking up two or three shows. not really sure yet.
