MASSIVE SHROMS, HORRIBLE FLUSH! What Happened!?
    #13792385 -

...I started a B+ culture from a spore print awhile back. Well I got 2 mono tubs now and they L00K greattt! the mycelium is extremely vigours and the entire cake is completely consumed. But they took FOREVER to pin, they were left in fruiting conditions for over 3 weeks before they even started to pin. And when they did pin i only got about 5 or 6 shrooms max per tub?! wtf, i thought... mabye more pins will pop up... but they didnt. Instead, the 10 or 11 shrooms i had growing, just kept growing! they all turned out to be over 70 grams each! Its been acouple weeks now since the first flush... and i havent seen more then 1 or 2 pins. What is going on... im getting great fruits, but horrible flushes, and its taking forever?!

I think it might be alittle dry just because its been sitting in that bin for 2ish months now, but I need help... I kno theres more life in them and i wannna get it all out before they start to contam or somthing :frown:

You need to dunk it.

Pics of tubs? sounds like lack of FAE to me.

Like this?

B+ will do that sometimes

My first flushes are usually comprised of monsters with
B+, then the second flushes are more "normal." Although
sometimes you will get a great first flush and the second
flush will give you a few big boys.

That's the classic presentation of insufficient fresh air, which causes very long stems, and insufficient light which causes tiny caps.

To the OP, if you failed to loosen up or remove the polyfill from the monotub, that explains the poor pinset.  You also didn't mention lighting.

Actually, I fanned about 3 times a day and used the correct
light bulb. This tub was actually exposed to light 24/7.

The only thing I fudged up was not directly spraying
the sub... the old ways :facepalm3:

This is a tub of Oakridge (same tub used as above),
the only difference being light was on a 12/12 schedule
(for the most part), and the sub was directly sprayed.

I still say it's B+

That's the problem.  You want about two or three air exchanges per hour, not day.  In addition, 24/7 light is almost as bad as no light at all.  Most growth occurs during the dark cycle.  Mushrooms have circadian rhythms just like mammals.  You wouldn't do well either if it was daylight all the time.

You're right, the 24/7 schedule will provide fruits,
but not as well as a natural 12/12 cycle.

As far as FAE, I guess the tubs could use a little more
per day. It's also unfortunate that my project is contained
within a pretty much sealed up closet, which also hinders
the exchange of air in the room itself.

But, after years of experience with B+, I will still hold
firm to how I described the variety's growth pattern.

:peace:

With a proper shotgun FC would an open room provide enough air exchange?
Just curious because then i could just have a fan pointing in the general direction to provide constant air exchange, without dehydrating them.

Fan + shotgun = bad :mmmkay:

Mind elaborating why its bad?

Because instead of manually fanning it with the lid it gets a electric fan blowing into the shotgun FC for about twenty minutes or so every hour or two.. not pointing directly towards the cakes.

RR just said this yesterday.

RogerRabbit said:
Properly constructed shotgun terrariums will be fine during that time.  Don't run a fan or ceiling fan in the room with a shotgun terrarium.  They'll force air in through the wrong holes and dry out the air inside.
