to pin how much air exchange

My friend whants to know how many times he should fan to induce pinning? He has mixes things from 1-2 times a day to 4 times. Some say you nedd CO2 build up to pin. What is correct? Please help. And how much light also? 12 on 12 off?

You seem like you're going into red-aleart when there's really nothing to worry about. Pinning isn't really initiated so much with air exchange then it is with temp and humidity. Make sure you a least fan once a day, but you don't have to go out of your way to fan as many as 4. You're also giving more then enough light. Patients is the key... if no pinning occurs with in the next few days, I would reevaluated the temp and humidity in the grow chamber or even tell your friend to try to cold shock your cakes/casings.

Yes you dont have to worry so much. Humidity is quite important but temperature and air exchange and light are not.

I keep my casings in a room that is to cold. I fan them maybe twice a day. Sometimes they dont get light or airexchange at all for several days and they still grow. I once had a casing in my closet in an airtight container for 6 days. When i checked on it 2 massive shrooms was growing. That was a fourth flush.

They will grow given enough time.

Yesterday he had droped a jar an top of the casing and now it is really dark blue in that spot from bruising. Should he leave it alone or remove the bruised section?

Roadkill is right.
and you need less co2 for pinning.
a 12/12 light cycle is ok
heres the checklist (for cubie primordia formation, stolen from TMC)

Relative humidity: ...95-100%
Air temp:...74-78 degrees F
Duration:... 6-10 days
Carbon dioxide: less than 5000 ppm
Fresh air exchanges:...1-3 /hour (I think fanning 2 or 3 times daily accomplishes this)
Light:....12-16 hrs/day

I had two casings survive on their own while I was away on reading week. 10 days, no fresh air, no light, no misting.
Came home and found a bunch of really massive mushrooms (like a foot long). Sadly my scale was stolen during that week I was gone, so I dont know what they weighed in at

the only thing i can add to this great info, is that some say mushrooms grow better in the dark. i have heard 2 hours a day is plenty (although this may be more effective AFTER pinning has occured.)
