PINNING
    #1366604 - 03/11/03 02:43 PM (21 years, 1 month ago)

My friend is growing some brown rice flower cakes innoculated with the Creeper strain. He put them in the chamber about 2 weeks ago. They are sitting directly on the perlite. The temp is always around 73-77 degrees. There has been no sign of pinning the only growth is a little fluffy mycellium. PLEASE GIVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON MAKING THEM PIN

well keep fanning.. the white fluff is good as it will lead to some nice pins IMO.

also what is your rh level at? you want to be at a nice 95%

I just gave my first four cakes their birthday last night. I have a sonic humidifier running to a few coke bottle chambers and then to the terrrarium. I let it run the past 24 hrs. and I see tiny little bumps forming all over, are they the start of pins :grin:, or just fuzz. I thought I read that too much moisture will lead only to fuzzy growth. I now have my humidifier on a timer, every eight hours it runs for two.  Does this sound sufficient?

patience grasshopper...heres a checklist for cubie pinning (compiled from TMC):
95-100% humidity...check (perlite works good)
air temp=74-78 F...check
6-10 days duration...doublecheck
CO2= less than 5000 ppm...hmmm
Fresh air exchanges: 1-3 per hour.....hmmmm
Light....your FOAF does have some sort of light right?...ok check
Through process of elimination your problem probably has to do with too much carbon dioxide, and not enough fresh air. How often do you fan (if at all)?
I reccommend fanning more or getting some other means for air circulation.
I hope I helped.
Also (probably more a matter of prefrence) I would elevate those cakes off the perlite with a wire rack or somthing.
