Casing 360° Fruiting in SG FC?

Hey fellas, I hope all is well with you and that everyone's in good health
I've seen one example (didn't see pics though) on this website of someone who put their casing on a wire rack to allow for 360° fruiting of the casing, and not only through the top and/or side, but the bottom as well. Now I was wondering if anyone else has tried this, and what your results were? It would obviously require a shallower than usual tray, and thinner verm layers, so they can be colonized more quickly so the cake holds together well and retains it's moisture, since it won't be sitting in the tray anymore (which was a safe place for it to get water without it dripping away or anything). I guess it's basically like cakes, but BIG cakes lol..
Any experience? I was thinking maybe making a wire stand with some clothes hangers.. you think the cakes should be flat side up/down or positioned vertically? I think vertically would allow for more light availability.

Im doing this as we speak. I spawned 5 quarts of WBS to 1 brick of coir and verm and put it into a monotub. I let it colonize for 12 days. I was then going to leave it in the tub to fruit, then thought hey if i pop it outta the tub and throw it in my martha i would have more fruiting surface. Took 5 days to see pins but now have little guys popping up every where besides the bottom. The top surface looks fantastic the sides just look so so but the way i see it all those side ones are more than i was gonna get :smile:

Let me know if you have any other ?? and ill see if i can help, but i have limited knowledge this is only 3 go around for me.

How would you get light to the bottom? The shrooms will grow towards the light.If you want to do that why not just shove it down in substrate standing on one edge maybe prop it up with something sterile, unless of course you also have a martha.That might make it fruit from both flat sides at once.

I have a martha setup.


so its on a wire rack but i still get no pins on the bottom but all other sides
