Casing to fruiting questions (**UPDATE**pics)

This is my small setup with perlite humidification, my Rh is 95% and temp. is arround 75F-78F, it fits into a closet, so it's pretty dark inside.
This is my casing, it's only half of the original because i lost the other half to contams, what you see was saved using 1:10 - H2O2:H2O solution , the top layeris a 50% peat moss/ 50% natural grit, this layer was applied after treating the contams. The case was elevated to have access to more fresh air and less Co2 and less humidity to start the pinning process, fanning 2 time a day. Now my questions are, do i need to expose them to more light? or a slight open door (of the closet) will do it ? Do i need to cold shock the casing or let it go by it's natural process ?
A close up.
The natural brit stuff, it's used in pingeon beds, it's made of silica rock, crushed oyster shells and a red porous rock, i can tell you that it works great if used with peat moss as a top casing layer, it was sterilized BTW.
So, what do you think ? Any help is apreciated!!
Peace,
MAIA

You want the humidity high to initiate pinning. Then drop it for fruiting.

Thanks puscle! I'm allways learning.
Anyway, should it be more than 95%Rh ?

Hmm, I don?t want to sound pessimistic, but this casing somehow doesn?t look right. How fast did this mycelium spread over the casing surface?
It looks a bit like the cobweb mold.

95% is fine. Good eye, Anno, that "mycelia" looks a bit grey.

It spread slowlly, i was also worried about the texture of the mycellium being to "hairy" and they seam a bit grey before they gain volume, i guess this strain is not so ryzomorphic as others. Anyway, their growth was accelerated 3 days ago when i leveled up the casing. It can only be one of two things, they like air a lot or it's cobweb mold. I'm a realistic guy.... i'll keep my eye on it, i'll keep you updated. Thanks Anno!

From my eye (which I admit has not seen ahelluva lot) I thought it looked kinda "whispy" or "thin" and I made this ob before I read Anno's post. I didnt notice anything wrong with the color. Im curious as to how this turned out.
Hope its OK....

that's no mushroom mycelium for sure. Looks a lot like cobweb mold though.

A few quest. then,
1.
Will it ever pin ?
2.
Isn't it hard for a first time grower to try cultivating a weak strain ?
3.
If i achieve this stage of development with this strain what makes you think of what i'll do if i got a stronger strain ?
I think i know the answer to this one: CABOOOOOMMMMM!!! a shitload of shrooms!!! BRING ME SOME B+ !!!!!!! AH! AH! AH!

1) Yes, it will pin.
2) It's harder for all of us.
3) That mycelia can turn rhizo in the casing process.
The B + is great, as long as you get it from a decent vendor.

1. probably not
2. a bit
3 ?????
i don't understand why u guys instead of following well experimented routes you go into sperimentation...
why using pigeon grit when you can case with verm-peat or coco coir....
next time try well tested recipes, you'll see better resylts...

Does it smell like cubensis mycelium? Or just earthy?

whats wrong with experimenting? thats how people find new ways to do things..most likely he hasnt stumbled upon anything great but i think its cool that he is trying something different anyway..
i think it will pin
i dont think youll have a problem with it if you have patience.

One of the first signs I can see already is you having 95% RH means you are not getting good air exchange. For casing you only need 85% and I can tell you this from years of experience. You need no cold shocking as long as you run from 72 - 78. You can run lighting 24 hrs but a nice 6 or 8 hour dark cycle helps to reduce RH drops.
Air exchange is the key, thats why you see these long stemmed shrooms that fall over in the tupperware containers that get fanned but this is not enough. Cool mists are ok, but an airpump running 24 hrs will do wonders.
First off go to Ryches site at www.thehawkseye.com and look at the tips section on terrarium setups.
Then look at this setup, scroll down to the ecuadorsetup.jpg files and look at these ecuadors.
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Creek/3715
Air exchange is what its all about and fair amounts of humidity FOR CASINGS! PF naked cake style is the only mehtod that needs high humidity. Lack of air exchange is why people get contamination also.
Hope this helps.Edited by Ozone on 09/10/01 06:51 PM.
