Pan cinct. growing in bark chips?

So I was out hunting in the Portland area today. I saw a bunch of mushrooms but I found no cyans. I found lots that looked like panaeolus cinctulus but it was growing in bark, not grass. I decided to bring one home to take pictures of and print. The print isn't done, but it's looking black. Sorry I don't have a picture of the stem or habitat, if it's necessary I can get one tomorrow.



I'll be back with a better picture and the print so far.

I'm guessing Psathyrella gracilis.

Is there anything else it could be? I read the description of psathyrella gracilis and it sounds wrong. There are three people who looked at the print and at 100x zoom and we couldn't see any purple in it. Also, It really wasn't that fragile. It got ripped in half because I was having a hard time ripping the stem off. Also, the gills didn't have any purple and look wrong. I'm not trying to say they are active, I just don't think they are psathyrella.

Sure, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

What, exactly, sounds wrong?

You won't see the colors correctly under magnification.  The description is MD says a print can be nearly black.  I've seen them that way.  They can fool you.

Fragility is subjective.  How many Psathyrella gracilis have you handled?

The gills are NEVER purple on this species.  Gill color doesn't always reflect spore print color.  How do they "look wrong?"  How much experience do you have with Psathyrella gracilis?

You might be correct, but your posts don't indicate you would know this.

A complete photo of the entire mushroom would have cleared this up easily.  Do you have one or can you get one?
