The grow in poop. Preferably horse poop, I beleive. They also grow on rotting wood and hay. Look around horse stables.
Don't eat anything you're not sure about! You could die, no shit.

The Pan subbalteatus grows native in Ontario and I am thinking about trying to establish it in my garden in Toronto. I am just worried because the spore suppliers all seem to say strength is low to moderate. Is it worth trying to grow them? Do you know anyone that has tried them?

I think I answered his in another post by you butthis confuses people..
Panaeolus subbalteatus do not grow from horse poop. Where did you here that at.
They do appear in cowmanure sometimes or in soil which is mixed with manure from the previous years.
They grow in rotted hay mixed in horse poop but not fromthe poop itself. They attached their mycelial roots tot he rotted hay at riding stable and racetracks and can also appear in soil with woodchips over them although that is extremely rare.
There is aphot of them growing in a garden in soil and woodchips but that is also rare.
Mj.
They are as potent as most cubies by weight.

Hi mjshroomer, LK had me in one of his horsey fields and we were finding them..from poop, it seemed.
-They werent like the subbs Ive seen in your pictures (with fatter almost white stems?)
Anyways, horse shit doesnt come down like cow poo does.
Cow shit comes down in Big ol' fat piles of dark brown gooy.
Horse manure is different..
