So I've known this girl for a long time shes friends of family and I've always felt like this spark between us, and the other day she says something like "hey kiddo, whats up". There is an age gap of about 5 yrs or so, but I'm certainly mature and never had a woman call me kiddo before. I'm wondering if you think she's trying to prove herself as more mature, or if she's reinforcing the age gap?

How old? I've called a 50 year old man "kid" before. Just as a kind of welcome and he laughed at the whole thing,saying it'd been a long time since he was called that. I didn't mean any disrespect and he knew it. I was only like 19.

The thing is, is that we tend to read what we want to read into a situation, and sometimes this is not always the right interpretation.

I would say that she is just a fun loving person who likes everyone in general.  I call people kiddo sometimes, does not matter what the ages are, it is just a friendly way to ad some color to the conversation strait away...
