Forest fungi finds from last Sunday's lazy day out
    #13121039 -

Things have really slowed down. Extreme looking power was required to find anything. Thankfully with Karode's eagle eyes we were able to spot some.

Enjoy!

Clitocybe clitocyboides.

Tiny coral.

Coprinellus disseminatus?

Scattered Earthstars.

Hydnum repandum.

Fungi sp. 1 - not sure.

More Hydnum repandum. Not to sure about the brownish one. I presume they're the same.

Fungi sp. 2 - surely there's a name for this beauty!

Trametes versicolor.

Tremella fuciformis glistening in the sun.

Trametes versicolor.

Heterotextus miltinus.

Fungi sp. 3 - not sure.

Fungi sp. 4 - not sure. These hung upside down like cauliflower pendants.

Even more Hydnum repandum!

Stereum illudens.

Inocybe sp?

Galerina hypnorum group.

Morganella pyriformis.

Dear Lord, nice pics man. They look like plates in a book!

What kind of camera do you have?

How do you take your pics? (e.g., do you use a tripod, delay, micro, etc.?)

"Fungi sp. 4" is Stemonitis sp., a slime mold.

Thanks tangoking!

I use a Pentax K200D - an entry level DSLR. 18-55mm stock lens.

Mainly I use handheld but sometimes I will rest the camera on the camera bag while on the ground for stability.

Chaos_ultt - no they're not HDR. Just 8-bit jpeg.

Nice shots man! I've been waiting for you to post up the pics so I could add my amateur effort. I'll have them up soon.

It was a nice day out and about even though the fungi didn't show up like I asked them to.

Ok. Here's what I have from the day out with Lord_Mayonnaise. My pics pale in comparison but I'll include them for the sake of humour....

Laccaria sp. growing amongst a bird skeleton.

Hydnum repandum

Scleroderma cepa

Stereum illudens

My first truffle, a Zelleromyces sp. found beneath Dicksonia antarctica.

Microscopic cross section at 100×

Spores at 1000×

Pseudohydnum gelatinosum on Mountain ash, Eucalyptus regnans

Something a bit out of the ordinary. This little guy is a Lyrebird, Menura novaehollandiae. They're usually very wary of people and if you see one they'll disappear pretty fast. This guy was semi-tame by the looks of things and gladly hung around for us to take pictures of and even broke out into song, which was really cool.

Looking at the first picture once at home I realised it was trying to show us a mushroom perched at the top of the tree it was in.:smirk:

Thanks for posting your shots Karode, they're much welcome here. Nice scopework too.

Glad you got a decent shot of the Lyrebird as all of mine got lost in the glare of the sky.

They were about the best shots I got on the day besides the truffle I suppose. Would have been nice to see more but there's always next year.

So is this what the macro function can do for you? Or is this just the headiest camera available?

The tiny coral is close to Ramaria myceliosa.

Your first unknown is Tubarua furfuracea.

Fungi sp. 3 is a Crepidotus.

Great pictures!

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.
