Look for Panaeolus subbalteatus and pan casters in the summer on newly laid sod that is being watered, or very well watered and cared for lawns. You might find Psilocybe cyanescens growing in wood mulch in the fall with colder temperatures. Around about now you might find Liberty caps in cow pastures, although more likely in Eastern Ontario I think. Vary rare is Psilocybe sylvatica in forests as well as Gymnopilus viridans. There may be more. There are a lot of current postings about Pan subs and Pan casters in this forum and StInvitroThomas finds lots in the Ottawa area. I think they probably are your best bet although it is late in the season now. I decided to try growing Pan subs in my garden so I ordered the spores and have some jars growing now to put outside. I'm just taking a gamble that they will live over the winter. I'm also trying to establish Psilocybe cyanescens in another bed.

I've been having psilly dreams lately
