Forest and horse field fungi (Pics)
    #974999 - 10/19/02 03:10 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I have a camera borrowed for two days, so i decided to take some shots of several mushrooms, it has been a bit dry and hot since the begining of this week than the previous week but i still managed to find some in this walk.
This next two pics are from a pine forest habitat, i still didn't ID this ones.

This falic object growing from a desd tree is the first Gymnopilus Spectabilis of this year, they've stoped growing due the hotter wheater, they'll be back again when it rains again and the temp decreases.

Next pics were taken in a horse field, most of them were drying out.
Psilocybe Semiglobata,

Panaeolus Papilonaceus

Something active i found growing in a fence,

Upload limit is reached, i'll post some more pics tomorow.

Nice photos.

The first 2, of course, are Amanitas of some sort. We would need to see if there's a ring, any bruising, and details of the base of the stem (volva and possible rooting base) to have a chance at an ID.

Just a thought - don't you feel weird crouching down close to shit to photograph it? Then we dig around in it for things which might even go into somebody's mouth.

Happy mushrooming!

hehe, well i don't but others watching me doing it may feel i'm weird . On the other hand i see it as a kind of platonic love, waiting, thinking about when, how "it never rains"," perhaps somebody step on them", "how many pinheads have grown already","oh! my patties at north !!!","who moved the damn horse", but who the hell loves shit patties ?!?!

Toxicman, the spores on the second mushrooms are pinkish putting Amanita out of the posssible species. Maybe some kind of Volvariella ?!?

Yes, if the spores are pinkish then the presence of a volva puts them in Volvariella.

To identify to species we need to know the following:

Is the cap viscid (slimy)?

What is the texture of the outside of the volva (hairy, fibrillose), and what color is it?

Is the stem smooth or pubescent (slightly hairy)?

Happy mushrooming!
