I would like to remind anybody who reads this....
THINK TWICE BEFORE GIVING DRUGS TO OTHER PEOPLE
6 years ago, a firend gave me an alprazolam tablet before we went to a party. I really liked it. I was comfortable, able to interact socially without any anxiety whatsoever, and pretty much thought it was the greatest thing ever.
I decided I would like to have some for myself so I lied to a doctor about having panic attacks in order to get a prescription for benzos. He gave me a prescription for lorazepam and an SSRI. I started taking the SSRI - I don't remember why. I know I believed my own lie about the panic attacks and actually started having panic attacks... Then I confabulated other lies to keep getting my prescription. They became real though - I guess my method for lying convincingly was too effective.
I think I was just curious about the SSRI and that's why I started taking it. I liked that, too, but I got addicted to it and tapering off of the SSRI was a HUGE mess that fucked up my life for a couple years. I acquired the entire gamut of addictions one after the other over about 5 years.
I haven't taken any drugs in about a year, but I'm probably going to always be a little different from having taken so many different drugs. I just today remembered my friend giving me that little alprazolam tablet, and I thought "Where would I be now if that never happened?"
I probably wouldn't have spent the 5 years primarily focused on taking drugs, but I guess I might not have the same kind of wisdom.
In any case, think twice before you give people drugs.
