I will overlook the worn-out cliche "all cancer victims fight bravely" and instead ask: Is this God's punishment for being a clam-licker?

It's Gods punishment for eating the shit humans produce rather than the perfect foods nature provides.

"A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness.

This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.

Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security."

Imperfect to your taste buds?  Just because it is sour doesn't make it bad.  In fact, the lower sugar content is actually healthier.  Seriously, natures foods provide us with everything we need in the perfect quantities if we eat a variety of good foods (including meat and fish).  If you eat a diet of processed junk you will become deficient in important minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients.

The granny smith has been selected for extra sugar and shelf life.  It contains less minerals and vitamins than a wild counterpart.  Every had wild blueberries or strawberries?  They are way tastier than the farmed variety because of higher levels of minerals and vitamins.

Yes, bananas can't be eaten wild because of huge seeds, but once again I am talking more of food processing and not produce.  A banana is still a creation of nature, even if hybridized.  But again, hybridizing foods lowers their nutritional content.  Our farming practices reduce nutritional content.

But this is not what I am talking about, I am talking about processed foods.  Yes, there are some problems with our production of produce, but for those people who want it there are people who sell heirloom local produce, which by the way tastes 10x better than anything in a supermarket.  The real problem comes from the massive consumption of processed, meats, grains (especially HFCS), and soy.

processed foods = cancer, diabetes, autoimmune disorders etc.

Proven scientific fact, processed foods cause cancer, especially processed meats.

Cancer is a disease of lifestyle.

if you don't live the way god intended (Eat well, exercise well, and live in balance) then you're going to suffer disease and for close to a majority of the population that means getting cancer.

Nature intends for you to eat what it produces, real food, and no wonder if you don't do that your body degenerates.

In the words of fitness guru Jack Lalane:
Quote:
If man made it, don't eat it!

So they aren't "natural" anymore? Just because they have been selected by humans? Really? How is that imperfect for the taste buds (using your words here), if people are selecting them exactly so they can satisfy their taste?

For everybody, or just for you?
I happen to like wild berries more than farmed ones as well, but then there's other people that like the farmed ones better.

No, excessive use of these foods, or just any other food for that matter, will create health problems. I wouldn't go as far as saying that one can get cancer because of that, as there's no evidence to show a direct link between these two.
Also, what autoimmune disorders are we talking about? Do you mean to say that one can actually get AIDS because of eating unhealthy?

The only thing that has been proven was a correlation, not a causation.

Oh, so now, not only that you KNOW there's a god, you also know what he intended for us. Interesting... :strokebeard:

Nature doesn't intend anything, nature is neutral. Nature isn't our baby-sitter.

For sure balance, activity, and mindfulness of diet greatly improves the human condition.

But even if you live how "god intended", you still die.

I am a biochemistry student.  I have taken many university coursed that cover cancer.  All my professors have said over and over it is a result of lifestyle choices in the vast majority of cases.  VERY few cancers are genetic, and even then they need other mutagens as well.

Go to pubmed, and look up processed foods and cancer.

Look anywhere and you will see the risk of cancer is based off of lifestyle factors: Diet, exercise, smoking, and carcinogen exposure.

Nature intended you to live, love and thrive, if you can.
