I think thats a stretch.  Precision relies on an external metric or goal and unless you have faith, there is no such thing for the universe.  It would be more accurate to say the laws we invent are precise in describing the universe and not the other way around. (that is, the laws dont govern the universe - the universe governs the laws)

I can agree with that.

But a shotgun universe implies that the universe has a goal-- and is just sending a huge spray out with hopes that some of them will hit on target.

Perhaps in the end we shouldn't apply either term to the universe. It just is doing its thang.

I already pointed out the lack of accuracy in reproduction.

Everything follows the law of physics. So what?

I won't deny that reproduction uses a shotgun approach, but this is not the entire universe. Unless the universe is consciously deciding to do something, then there can be no approach-- whether precise or shotgun.

Reproduction has a goal, to create life that can survive long enough to reproduce itself-- but what goal does the entire universe have?

"All of life appears to have a shotgun approach; an enormous scattering wherein failure is the norm rather than success.

Where is the cosmic director behind this very sloppy method? "

What makes the sperm who "makes it" a success instead of a failure, or neither?
