Time to take the plunge
    #12072526 -

my lips have not touched alcohol for a few days now and im totally sober and ready to take the plunge into the dark abyss that is the ALCOHOL INFLUENCE.

Getting ready for that sublime opiating feeling to coax me from my normal anxieties and guide me to the warm flowing pools of analgesic nectar that await!!!

time to get FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOked up and turn to the dark side, the side that I never return from. the side where regrets and mistakes cannot be found, yet await me in soberness to flow abound

so what misadventures await me this time??? i can only wait to find out, yet before my lips ever even touch my sweet sweet nectar i am giddy and excited for the troubles that lie in patience on the dark side!!!!
w00t w00t get fuucked up

my sweet sweet nectar is wine btw

my father was a wino and i guess I take after him.

beer to me, is for taste, hard to get properly fucked up off this delightful treat. hard liqour for me is quite nauseating and quickly leads to the spins.

wine however provides me with very little body "load", very little agression, just sweet sweet opiate analgesia. yummmm

you are setting yourself up for disaster with the way you think.

you are personifying alcohol to be some sort of dark evil force, and through this belief, when you drink, you probably are going to get into a lot of trouble that you will regret.

"the side that i never return from" , sounds like you are a sip away from an addiction.

if you change the way you think about alcohol, i don't think it would be this dark force.

alcohol is my friend.  i have a glass of whiskey from time to time.  and a few glasses on a lonely night.

anyways, if your goal with alcohol is reaching oblivion, by all means, drink to the point where you blackout, but...

it is totally not needed.

odd that you took anything away from the original post as anything OTHER than addiction

its pure immaculate love for my addiction, do you not understand? i kicked the heroin habit but have not kicked my love for its hedonistic pleasures.

alcohol is just as dangerous as heroin can be.

I have done heroin, and I drink alcohol once a week.

I'm just letting you know the way you think is going to get you in trouble.
You are projecting a personality upon alcohol, and turning it into something other than it is.  A chemical that has certain effects.

oh to set the record straight I quit using heroin not because I was dangerously out of control with my lifestyle (which i was, but don't mind) I quit it because I was afraid for my health, i thought it was literally killing me (which it probably was) i had a thing for the brown frown if you know what im sayin man.

its crazy that people read so deeply into my random alcohol induced poetry.......

alcohol withdrawal is another term for a HANGOVER

someone who is addicted to alcohol is very unlikely to die from "withdrawal"

someone who is very unexperienced and goes on a drinking binge could perhaps die from withdrawal.

again, alcohol withdrawal is not an effect of addiction.

he drank too much in one day, came down off it BAM died from acute withdrawal (aka: bad hangover)

you don't experience withdrawal from discontinued prolonged abuse, its precipitated withdrawal from acute overuse.

let's you drink a 5th every day for 6 months,

and then you quit cold turkey,  you will get delerium tremens, and may die.

you can also drink too much on a night and get alcohol poisoning,

point is, alcohol does cause people to die.

don't confuse people though

you can drink a bottle of wine every day for six months, then go cold turkey and not feel withdrawal even slightly because you weren't getting SMASHED daily.

there is a big difference between alcohol withdrawal an withdrawal experienced from other drugs.....

I agree.  I never said otherwise.
All I said is that your view on alcohol seems a little warped to me.
but if it was a hyperbole for the sake of a poem, and the personification was for effect, rather than the reality of your headspace, then...

oh no my friend, you read into it quite well in fact. everything i wrote was pure expression, didn't try to cut corners with my feelings or add in any big words at all, just said what felt right. it felt good to write it too, and i was even sober....

i love poetry btw
