That is just an insane cake. A super cheap, super ghetto way is to mix vanilla karo or honey with water, 1:25 ratio then inoculate wih mycellia/tissue/spores.  :mushroom2:  Good vibes for the trip.  Liquid Culture Basics

Damn, my cambos look like thimble dicks compared to that!!!  I had maybe one or two fruits get that big.  For some reason I seem to get many small fruits instead of a few big ones.

Most likely genetics! The Cambos I've cultivated were pretty normal in size. The genetics of his mushroom is just a big growing one.

If the Cambos are/were the only ones, that came out small it's not a problem of your set-up, but indeed, simply of genetics.

So if you have cultivated them by using a spore syringe, just knock up some jars with it and I'm pretty sure, the next ones will be at least normal in size!

Nice job.  Cambos are one of my favorites.  And yeah, they can get pretty big under the right conditions.

That one was 139 grams fresh by itself.

I don't think I will be tripping tonight afterall since the wife is home and she is being weird, saying I'm doing too many "drugs" lately. lol Pot and shrooms  :picard:  :picard: I'll see what I can do to fix that.

I have them drying atm.

I have the 2 cakes that I harvested from dunked in a pot by the FC. The other cakes in the FC are pinning. I'll post pics of the pins later.

Don't dry them.  Eat them fresh.  They are much more potent fresh.

If dried correctly they dont lose potency. At least not a noticable amount.

Yes, this is true, but psilocin oxidizes during the drying process, therefore making dried shrooms less potent.

I would say that about 25 grams fresh equals about 3 grams dried in my experience.

They're not going to loose any noticeable potency.

If you dry them in a dehydrator or even a fan method they will be fine.

Just don't let them sit out for long periods of time. Store them in airtight containers in a cool dry place.

I use a dehydrator with one setting; on. Once they're dry they go into a zip-loc bag, and then into a larger zip-loc bag with a desiccant pack and placed in a box.

Vacuum sealed bags would be best but my zip-loc method works fine.

Fresh or dry, the only noticeable difference is taste.

The difference is indeed not too dramatic, but in my experience it is there.
When it comes to Psilocin rich species, such as Ps. cubensis, or Pan. cyanescens it seems, that fast drying is a lot more important, than with Psilocybin rich species, such as s. azurescens etc.

But what's way more important is -as Nexus1946 already said- proper storing of the fruits.
You can imagine, that a few days of drying isn't as bad, as a few months of improper storage!

Here are some updates on the other cakes. The Two on the bottom are still recovering from the harvest, but the other three all formed mutants

Here is an Odd colored one that I have drying right now. Still good right?

Here is a bigger shot of them, you can see the other cakes imperfections.

Close ups on the deformations.

Veil still hasn't broken yet on the big one.

Is it my fault that they are deforming and some are growing to the side? I know My RH is on the low side, 89%ish ... I work long hours so I have 2 air pumps in the FC for the FAE. I'm not causing the mutations right? Like they are not from water droplets or the sorts?

Thanks everyone. Much love and respect.

The most important point is -as already mentioned- airtight storage. Since the loss of potency is directly connected to the contact of active alkaloids with oxygen, it is reasonable to keep the time, the mushrooms are in contact with air, as short as possible.

Chemical reactions happen faster in warmer temperatures, which is why it's a good idea to store the mushrooms in a cold place.

If you don't have the possibility to air dry them in room temps (with the help a dry room) it would probably be better to dry them in higher temps (the melting point for Psilocin is at about 173°C to 176°C (various statements about that. It's dependent on how it's crystallized though)), so any temps below that won't destroy the Psilocin / Psilocybin. The oxidation process will be sped up by the higher temperatures, but it's probably the better idea to dry them in higher temps, but a shorter time, than to dry them for a long time at room temperature. In the end, it's about the time it's in contact with oxygen, as said before.

So ideally, a fast drying process, a vacuum sealed storage (maybe in a vacuum plastic bag) in the fridge / freezer is the best you can do about it.

This is all very good advice, DO NOT FREEZE WHEN FRESH, i swear one night 405 people were asking about that

I would eat every one of them for a good trip after I at least cut the heads off and tried to print them. Also I my be wrong but why print the small ones i would think you would want the genetics of the larger ones for future projects. maybee multi spore does not matter when it comes to genetics but I would still assume.

It shouldn't matter too much. At least when done once. You can be quiet sure, that the genetic information within the millions of spore of single print also contain the "recipe" for mushrooms that grow large ass fruits.

Just because the mushroom you cultivated created large fruits this time, it doesn't mean, that other grows from the same syringe will grow large fruits as well.

This is why isolation is done. To diminish the possibility of weak growing habits and/or to increase the chance for the "filtered" genetics to develop fruits of a certain shape, such as PE, KSSS or any albino strain. You can grow perfectly normal looking fruits from any of these strains, because the genetic information of "how to do that" is still within the prints you get from them.

But yes: taking prints from "successful" fruits, is actually the first step of isolating them.
