Cambodians and Thai Koh Samui

I want to grow Cambodians and/or Thai Koh Samuis - most likely, Cambodians, because I've heard that they are energetic and my favorite way to trip is while dancing in a club. Anyhoo - what is the best EASY method to grow them? I am new to this and I don't have a lot of space or a yard. Thanks.

They love wheat straw, and they like finch seed too. So use one of the wheat straw teks on the board, there not hard and produce great results.:)bluhoney

Try the Cambodians....PF Tek style If you haven't grown definately follow the PF Tek. Cambodians are fast colonizers.......fast fruiters. Mine were small ...but plentiful. I didn't experience a speedy trip....more like Colorful one.

Hey, just wanted to say I ordered some Cambodians last week. I wanted the energetic trip too! I'm going to see Sasha & Digweed in late April and I want to dance the night away there. I also ordered because they are supposed to be fast colonizers and fruiters. Hopefully they'll be ready in time. I'm going the PF-Tek style Anyway, I'll be posting my progress with pics so stay tuned... Roadkill, just a quick question. Did you grow the Cambodies with BRF or using birdseed like it shows on The Hawk's Eye or maybe something else? Just curious, I'm wondering if they'll grow alright with the BRF. Thanks in advance

Cool man! Sounds like you are fond of Cambodies. I think I will be too--energetic or not. It's not that big of a deal. It's reassuring to hear they do great on plain BRF. After a few batches I'd like to try the BRF/Birdseed Tek. I searched the forums and couldn't find anything about it. The closest tek I could find was "Richard Hawk's Growing Tips" which uses: 20 tbls finch seed 7 tbls brown rice flour 4 tbls flax seed meal 10 tbls vermiculite Does this sound familiar? If you could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. btw, how chunky do you make ur flour? Oh and when I start casing I will definately keep Coco Coir in mind. I was planning on 50/50+ but I guess I should try them all. Thanks again!

Is rye flour the same as DRF? I could not find dark rye flour at my local health food store, but they did have rye flour. Is it the same things, and if not is it still better than BRF?

Trance, Yes i like the Cambodians very much. Here is a link to another thread about birdseed teks.....look for my repost of bluehoney's post...she's my hero Click here Well..... I can make my flour any size.... I use a coffee burr grinder. Not sure which I like better yet.... I don't like too fine though. You can find Coco Coir in major pet stores....Its used as reptile bedding. Called Forest Floor or Forest Bed....made by T-Rex. Comes in a brick.....don't get the bark kind. It is the shit......stuff is wicked. Cuckoo, Not sure dude.....I get my Rye from a Feed Store. They deliver even...lolz Syringes....needles......birdseed and rye. I absolutly love them.....Lande Feed Company...Renton, Wa. Yes that was a plug....lolz "is it still better than BRF? " << yes and no....Some people say DRF is faster than BRF at colonizing.... I didn't notice this. I did notice that the DRF makes the mycellium alot thicker on the outside of the cakes.

Try this. Take 4 cups of finch seed 1and a 1/2 cup of BRF Now lets begin Put your finch seed in a large pot and fill with water until seed are covered. Simmer seed until they have doubled in size, add water as needed. Let cool and drain. Pour in large bowl and pour in the BRF. Mix together well Add vermiculite and keep mixing until the seed separate and dont stick together easily Now fill your jars half full and pressure cook as normal.:)bluhoney

Thank you everyone for their input. Dipandab, sry to hijack your thread but I hope it proves helpful to you too. Bluhoney, May I ask that the reason you fill the jars half full is maybe because it expands even more when u pressure cook? I'm using half-pint jars so if it didn't there wouldn' t be very much substrate. Should one use whole pint size jars for this tek? GaNjaShRooM, yes your method sounds close to Hawk's method. The flax sounds tricky though so I will try it after I have a few successes with bluhoney's tek and see which I find works best for me. Thankya much! =)

Can't tell you without reading the label of the rye flour. Dark Rye flour is made from the whole grain and is the most nutritious. Whole grains are always better. I never have trouble finding it in health food style markets.

The pink buffalo grows some very huge mushrooms, where as the Koh Samui are medium, thick and meaty. Yes use pint jars . The extra space is for expantion and for when shaking.:)bluhoney
