I have grown the Cambodians (cake method).

They actually grew a little slower than the Equadors I was growing, but I believe the spore concentration was a little weak in the syringe I had (it was Ryche's first batch). So I'd imagine that they do grow pretty fast.

I don't see why they wouldn't grow on straw.

that timeline is not really unusually quick for cakes. i've often done pf cakes/spores from stab to fruit in a little less than a month.
