Messianic Age: A bunch of bullshit?
    #11755328 -

In the Messianic Age… After much leisure and eons of harmony the people spoke out again. We very much would like to eat that apple again, at least one more time; we have lost contact with the memory of what it is like to really feel ups and downs. We grow tired of your glory lord, though we never thought this moment would come to us here – from earth. Shall you let us betray you again god? We have come to realize that deep down we relish the cycle we once knew. Let us go again. Call us cheeky sadists if you must, be we really must be gone.

Actually, he does

How do we expect experiential existence to warrant delight in timeless experience of undramatic, sterile, lovey dove'y harmony? Is it a kind of sad reality that we must have some violence on the side here and there?

How do we at the least fight off boredom? Where is the line drawn when we butt heads as individuals?

Yeah, the Messianic age is probably a bunch of BS. :glittershitz:

It's one thing to simply enjoy a style of life that one enjoys, but it's another thing altogether to refer to another person's choice as "wrong" or to rationalize their behavior as being pathological or resulting from some sort of inadequacy or failing so as to create a sense of superiority or separation as yet another projection of a personal fear or control issue.

Anything that concerns a concept like "God" is totally dangerous bullshit based in fear and violence.

Yes, complete fear-based bullshit.

Could it be that god, heaven and hell are merely metaphors misinterpreted by maniacal monkeys maligned by menacing maybes?

If they cannot be interpreted correctly then they are useless to the monkeys.

The problem is boredom. One eventually tires of anything and everything. Immortality would be a royal pain in the ass.

It would be cool for a while though. We could have world wars for fun...no harm done. Maybe set of some nukes for 4th of July.

I wouldn't mind being immortal; I could always find new shit, or drugs, to do.

New drugs are invented constantly. Great idea to pass the time. If we were immortal we would be immune to death. We could destroy the planet and then start on the rest of the universe. We wouldn't need any of it to live.

We might be immortal, if this life is an endless looping thing.  Nice sig btw, I like Singapore but without that song Tom Waits might be less popular among the younger generation (lots found him in fight club).

Exactly, I'd go to Mars as soon as this place is done with.  :etbig:

If there ever was a creator god he looked at what he had created, got bored, and walked away. The devil hung around cause he had no choice but knew nothing would ever be resolved.  It would be a bad deal all around.

I think the pessimism is over compensating for the naive optimism.

In the history of humanity we've always been close to the edge when it comes to survival - food shortages, disease, and fighting for resources some of the chief concerns. If technology takes care of food and disease, maybe people will at least chill out a little more.

If we chill out we will die out. With no survival mechanisms in place in our minds we will not remember the necessity.
