Cure for Depression

I have a theory I want you to speculate.. what if the cure for depression could be cured by muttering a few words.. I was thinking of encouraging sound to the depressee will relieve them of their depression symptoms.. kinda like if your a guy a girl calls you hott right to your face.. like a moral boost cures the depression any thoughts???

:facepalm: That's not the cure for depression. It isn't this simple at all. Depression is caused by biology, it can't be fixed with words. You can't cure a schizophrenic with words, nor someone with clinical depression.

Depression is physical not mental. You cannot talk yourself out of depression. You might be able to realize depression is bad but that doesn't mean it will go away. I fought it for a while until i realize that medicine actually helps and that was my cure for my depression. I had a chemical imbalance and no matter what sounds i uttered it wouldn't go away.

Ah if only depression's cure were that simple. I've had a similar self tested treatment like that only dealing with panic attacks instead of depression. More like a cognitive trick. A panic attack triggers fears, a lot of them pertain to dying. So, if while having a panic attack start thinking about what you're going to do the next day, because that thought process is on the assumption you'll LIVE the next day. Sort of a jedi mind trick on yourself to naturally calm down and distract yourself. I've had many panic attacks and each time it has helped.

There are different causes for "depression", and different reasons why people are depressed; there will never be a permanent magic bullet, other than the literal one! :grin:

I doubt that would cure depression; just like drugs, it will only be temporarily relieving. :vaped:

Man nothing is all biological  that's ridiculous... Its a combination of shit, but the medical field will never rule in favor of mental healing(God Bless U Stanislav Groff)... I am with you bro, good things shared with others helps hands down.  Pills dint fix everything... what is depression, its a mental state and as much as we like to think we understand the body, to rule depresion as totally biological and rule out the souls state is fucking retarded!

have you been diagnosed with depression? it is more than just feeling bad because you had a bad day. it is having a bad day for no reason but every day. it isn't something you can control, it is involuntary. If it was a choice no one would be depressed.

I had a doc diagnose me with depression once. I told him I would try his pills for awhile. None of them worked and I decided that the pills were just bandages on bigger problems that I had to work out in my head.

Long story short there was nothing wrong with me I just needed a different perspective on life, better food and more exercise.

Thinking that you are powerless to change your state of mind is just a part of depression. You can change it, you just have to not be lazy.


Go outside, take a walk, stop whining, and get a life...


Or, just kill yourself because no one really cares anyway.

But if you find no cure for depression you will always fall into it and will have to ride it out for infinity or until you figure it out completely you can avoid it

So when i went to the gym three times a week, camping, kayaking, rafting, hiking, backpacking, fishing, to concerts, etc and i didn't cure my depression then i'm just weak? maybe time was enough for you to overcome but i think when you say eating healthy and exercise you are admitting that it is physical condition at its core. if could have willed myself to not be depressed i would have, i tried to and it failed. the only thing that worked were pills. pills are bad long term which is why i weened myself off of them over the course of months. now i am cured from depression and it is because of pills not because of my hobbies of kayaking, camping, etc.
