so wait a second, I'm now confused by what you just posted pris.  The site you sent, I can get a fully auto colt for 1200, but why is it saying "For instance, as of September 2008, a transferable M16 rifle costs approximately $11,000 to $18,000, while a transferable "lightning-link" for the AR-15 can sell for $8,000 to $10,000. New manufacture M-16s sell to law enforcement and the military for around $600 to $1000."

am I missing something?

Because it's not transferable. It's only for dealers and mil&police.

Suppressive fire is meant to pin down an enemy, not necessarily kill an enemy. It often does not. Ie: "lets throw a gazillion rounds at these guys so they can't get up to fire back while we get outta dodge,or reposition, support, whatever.

While a well covered, calm, skilled marksman, can take an aimed shot every few seconds and take down each target.

Rapid fire will never, ever overpower proper Skill and training.

ok so 1200$ to buy a non-transferable rifle then?-by "transferable" this means I will never be able to sell my assault rifle?? if so, who cares that's still awesome.

I need to just talk in person to someone who isn't a dumb ass like the gun shop guy was.  This is why I posted this, by his appearance alone I didn't trust the fucker.

pris just gave a link of a fully auto colt for $1200 though...

the gunshop I use normally is a class 3 dealer and class 2 manufacturer, I
can walk out with anything up to a 20mm rifle, any of dozens of
different machine guns, assault rifles or what ever with prices
starting about $1500

for semi-auto ar-15 I pay around $500+

the bottom is a 20mm, top is a .50cal

well how about this next question then since eveything else has been answered:

I live in a city right now where we have an ordinance banning fully auto assault weapons.  What if I moved to some state where I can own one legally, but then moved to where it was illegal again?  I just have to get rid of it, never use it, or what?

That doesn't mean anything. Some manufactures like Colt put that on their guns but it is not backed by anything legally.

Trust me i am 110% sure that you can't buy that ar unless you are a dealer or police/mil.

...if your government funded and have a whole convoy and entire legions of people keeping that ammo, and other required Kit to do that kind of thing.

Go price out some bulk .223 or .308 ammo, and tell me you wanna start wasting shooting up buildings, and trees, and everything but your target.

don't get me wrong, i get a hard on for machine guns like anyone else, but unless you have military backing,or gigantic pockets, it's nearly useless you just want to show off at the range,or spend years caching up ammo.

yep, huge hassle, and most fully-auto weapons sells for about ten times the normal price, not to mention the expensive license itself.

At a indoor shooting range I went to in Las Vegas, you could pay to shoot a fully automatic weapon with a guy supervising you.

I shot a full auto Thompson SMG, and MP5. Very fun stuff.

Yeah at the gun store. Then even let you shoot a M249. I bet they make a lot of money cuz everyone in Vegas was like you gotta check out the gun store and shoot full autos. More fun than gettin beat by the casino but it cost a lot more than i thought. still good tho.

"I believe that liberty is the only genuinely valuable thing that men have invented, at least in the field of government, in a thousand years. I believe that it is better to be free than to be not free, even when the former is dangerous and the latter safe. I believe that the finest qualities of man can flourish only in free air – that progress made under the shadow of the policeman's club is false progress, and of no permanent value. I believe that any man who takes the liberty of another into his keeping is bound to become a tyrant, and that any man who yields up his liberty, in however slight the measure, is bound to become a slave." ~ H.
