Grilled Cheese?

Can you put your shrooms into a grilled cheese sandwich? if done on low, or would the heat still be to much and ruin the psilocybin was thinking how great the cheese would cover the taste.

be safe and dont cook them with the shrooms in.  Wait til after they are cooked, give them a couple minutes to cool down, then put the shrooms in and eat it fast

i wouldnt risk it....just make the grilled cheese and put the shroomies on after a few minutes. i try to avoid temps over 100F, i know its overkill, but i would rather not risk affecting the shrooms.

reminds me of stewie at the dead concert, ANYONE HAVE A GRILLED CHEESE?? ILL TRADE MY SHIRT FOR A GRILLED CHEESE

yes but a sandwich with shrooms on an empty stomach persay pending how empty you wanna talk, is still an empty stomach...thanks ill just skip the grilled cheese and go back to the pb an j idea

yeah like ^^ said shrooms are most effective on an empty stomach. i usually eat a small meal 3 hours before ingestion and then crunch them straight chasing them with OJ

I do pretty much the same thing. Have something to eat a few hours before hand. Then down the shrooms as fast as possible and chase with OJ. works for me! :smile:

yeah. i used to just starve myself but i would get really uncomfortable halfway through the trip and still unable to eat...

Some people still believe all psilocybin vanishes from the mushrooms at anything over 85 degrees farenheit.

The psilocybin will definitely be fine.  Psilocin can oxidize at room temperature, but higher temperatures allow it to oxidize more quickly and more easily.  The psilocin would have to pull oxygens off a water molecule to oxidize in tea though.  Not sure how easy this is.  I'd bet it would be easier to oxidize psilocin at room temperature in open air.

Anyway, if its airtight in melted cheese, it likely wouldn't oxidize either.

You might lose like 0.1grams in potency.  Probably less.

RR has mentioned putting his shrooms on the grill, which reaches 2000 degrees easily, and apparently he didn't have much loss in potency.  I know, its anecdotal evidence, and I wouldn't do it either, but it's something to think about.  Might have something to do with the fire consuming all the oxygen,  but I don't know. :shrug:

Ya, but we are talking Psilocybin. It doesn't turn to Psilocin till we have eaten it!

Mushrooms contain both psilocybin and psilocin.  Yes, when you eat the mushroom, the psilocybin is later turned into psilocin.  But there is psilocin present in the mushroom initially.

The psilocybin is MUCH harder to break down than psilocin, so what's your arguement anyway?

if you have dried shrooms, chances are that most of the psilocin is broken down because of the oxygen its exposed to during the dehydrating process...

That is true if the dried mushrooms have been ground up and stored, but if the psilocin is still within the cell walls inside the whole mushroom, it should still be fine for quite a while.

There will be a slight loss in psilocin content by using a heat dehydrator, but not a large enough amount to make a difference.  Still better to use descant for drying.

thats what i do. when i trip though i just go upstairs and pick a few out of the tub, but when im prepping them for sale i use a descant

a side note.. i make my tea with fresh mushies.. though ive noticed quite a bit of bluing (oxidation) when dumped in the hot water.. something that helps me remedy this is to give the mushrooms before putting them in the water a good couple squirts of lime juice (much like u would do to avocado when making guacamole for instance)and letting that sit for a minute or so before putting in the hot water.. just throwing that out there
