Left 4 Dead 2!... no cinematics yet... WTF?
    #11480934 -

So I rented Left 4 Dead 2 on the first day it came out because I love zombie shooters (the gorier the better) and this certainly appeared to be the goriest zombie shooter on the market! Of course we know the shooting system is good and fun because it was made by Valve...

a lot of LFD1 fans are very upset because they did improve the graphics and gore greatly, of course new campaigns levels and characters, but according to LFD1 fans that didn't add much new content as far as weapons are concerned and only introduced a few new 'special' infected. i understand LFD1 fans are pissed seeing as Valve slapped a $60 label ( i play on xbox) on a re-vamped much prettier version of the same game, it disrupts the community.... i didn't play LFD1 though personally so and only had to pay a few bucks to rent it so personally im just like

i really really like the game, its LOTS of fun, high adrenaline, and like I said - the goriest one on the market (banned in Australia) ... lol you should see the wound detail, you can shoot a zombie in the stomach and watch his guts spill out onto the floor as he resumes limping over to you, only to have his head cut off by your partners machete (splat!)

anyways my only complaint with the game is that there are no fucking cinematics other then 5 minute spoiler/trailer (used in the intro) that valve released in their $25 million dollar advertising campaing, i was all pissed that the trailer had all these spoilers but apparently there's not even ANY cinematics as you play the game at all! you can even choose to skip from level to level if you choose so there is really barely any order or storyline what so ever, and them teasing you with the trailer making you think it was going to have some epic story and cinematic scenes was just misleading!

still though, im having so much fun hitting my bong while i light limbless zombies on fire!  :bongload:  :onfire:

If I recall correctly, LFD1 also didn't have much cinematics.

There's heaps of new content.

There's heaps of new weapons, new pistols, new shotguns, new rifles... lots of melee weapons, katanas, bats, frying pans. Don't forget the chainsaw which is incredibly brutal. You got defibs, boomer bile, adren. Laser sighting for weapons, incendiary ammo, HEAPS of new content.

How many more special infected did you want? They added 3 + wandering witch, doubling the amount of special infected playable. They're perfectly designed and awesome in VS. and scavenge mode.

L4D2 rocks and all the whingers can suck a fat one.

I'm a PC gamer :vaped: I wouldn't bring myself down to the level of FPS on a console :vaped: need my keyboard/mouse.

Also Australian so we couldn't play anyway.

your Australian?

I heard that Australia banned the game for having too much gore and then made Valve re-vamp it by removing the wound-detail, head explosions, and plenty of the corpse decorations, in otherwords your playing an aussie-friendly gimped out version of the game.

is this true?

oh and i think it makes more sense to play an fps on a console, since the frames per second rate are just so incredibly insane in new first-person shooters its just too expensive to maintain a high-end computer (by updating it as new games come out)

also its funner to play on a large t.v because there is more space for you to see the guts spill out onto the floor... its just prettier i think

Not really an issue, games on the source engine run perfectly. I built my last PC for only $700 and that was over 12 months ago. I play L4D2, 1280x res, all VERY HIGH, 6xMSAA and 16x filtering and it never drops below 60fps.

Also you need keyboard/mouse, controller is not acceptable at all.

I've been playing online FPS for nearly 15 years now, I only play for a extremely high level of competition... that's just not avaliable on a console.

Also yep.

Simple though, just purchased the game via UK steam store... no problem, full gore :vaped:

why aren't controllers acceptable?

i mean being used to a mouse already is one thing, but why are mouses better if you think a controller is more comfortable?

You just can't compete in FPS with a controller, anyone that says otherwise is just lying to themselves.

It may seem like it's acceptable, but that's because it's retards playing other retards. If there was some way for a PC gamer to play against console gamers it would be complete and utter rape.

Also there's no REALLY good console FPS players, it's a different online community. At best you have people that have been console/controller specific since the original Halo on Xbox.

You miss out on all the long-term FPS gamers that come from Doom/Quake/Jediknight/Half-life etc. and this is where your true competition comes from.

You can be faster with a keyboard and mouse than you can with a controller, but I think a lot of die hard PC game fans just don't do as well with a controller and get frustrated.  It's a different skill set from the one they worked so hard for.

I haven't played the full version of L4D2 yet, but in the demo I felt the way it handled controller input (Xbox360) was VASTLY improved.  The first game was built for PCs and then ported to consoles.  This one it seems like they knew consoles would have a significant draw for sales and catered to the market a bit.

Keyboard/mouse is faster and more accurate, that's ALL FPS comes down to.

Why play with an inferior control method? It's got nothing to do with being frustrated with the controller.

KB/mouse is just better, there's no arguement.

How much better?

I mean c'mon man I have seen people PWN FACE on online FPS console games.... your going to tell me that they were just getting lucky or have been playing xbox die-hard since halo?

and since people ARE able to get really good at games like Halo and GOW on the console how are you to say that the controller is not worth playing?

Maybe a drop or two less efficient than a mouse, but my PC just aint cuttin it no more and thats all i gots is my xbox mmmhhhhmmm

I'm not going to argue against you that in a match of keyboard and mouse vs. controller, keyboard and mouse will win every time. (Well, most every time).

You say it's faster and more accurate and that's all FPS games boil down to because that's all you've let yourself experience of FPS.  It's a different game on consoles.  Strafing is far more important for aiming, and twitch-shot accuracy isn't as important as lining up and timing a shot is on a console.

These last few years I've been playing console games for cost issues (my computer is kind of a junker that I can't afford to upgrade), and they're not inferior...they're just different.  I well designed console FPS plays much differently than a well designed PC FPS.

It's controllers pwning controllers, they don't know what it's like to play against a KB/mouse player.

If they used KB/mouse for Halo or GOW's they would be much better players.

It's OK to use controllers, some people like playing consoles or that's all they have played, but you can't really believe that it is on par with KB/mouse, it's a far inferior method in all aspects.

We're talking L4D2 (+ others).

Avaliable on both PC and console.

If somehow we could play cross platform, PC gamers vs console gamers... it would be total slaughter.

There is NOTHING on a controller that is superior to a KB/mouse, you bring up other strategies in console FPS games... but all these can be done on a KB/mouse, faster and with more accuracy.

There is never a winner when it comes to this argument quit while your ahead. I only own a pc. I had xbox 360 it broke, I threw it in the trash can, my pc has never broke well beyond fixing it myself that is. I have lifetime warranty on almost all the parts so I dont have to pay to get it fixed. Console = sony/microsoft owns, pc = I own it, made by me = im in control of all aspects of the services. Console if I dont want dedicated servers to bad, Pc if i dont want securom, specific item in game, forced match making.. Well fuck you ill mod or delete it.
