Grains with out a PC

i know i know its not advised
but i dont have a PC right now
and i wanted to give it a shot
i used the search and didnt see much i liked
anyone have any good ideas on how to do it

rinse with hot ass water soak in hot as water simmer real good boil 90 mins:shrug: use pot with tight fitting lid

Noobie, you know better....
But some people have had success with simmering in a large pot with a weight on the lid.  Try a 2 hour simmer and let us know how it works.

how about after a 20min simmer tek put it 250f oven to remove exterior moisture. meanwhile boil the jars so they are hot and steril, fill the hot jars with hot grains, then return the jars to the pot and continue PF brf style. run it untill just a few grains burst.

good idea or nuke em for a few minutes... try some stuff

i did wbs cakes on my first grow with no PC simply bc i didnt know any better i didnt have any contams out of 8 jars:shrug:

i rinsed with hot water and soaked in fresh hot coffee efore loading and boiling the jars

I got 4 quarts of popcorn going right now that I just simmered, drained then nuked for 5 min with plastic lids and tyvek. So far no contams. If you nuke them I suggest leaving the grains a bit
moist, the corn seemed a bit dry after the microwave.

this is what i decided to do
i rinsed the WBS took out all the floaters sticks ect...
nuked the wet grains for 5 min
rinsed again nuked the WBS in water for another 5 min

rinsed again strained let dry a bit put them in my bowl
put lid on covered with foil
i will steam for 90 minuets tonight
then for another 60 minuets tomorrow

once cool i will inoculate with a few
chunks of agar in my glove box
will it work who knows
we will soon find out tho
wish me luck

It won't be reliable, but if you don't have a PC, 50% success is better than nothing. :shrug:

IMO Fractional Sterilization is your best bet. Steam once, incubate overnight, steam again, incubate again overnight, steam once more, innoc. Supposedly allows the bacterial spores to germinate and then kills the germinated spores which are much more prone to heat than non germinated.
