Growing Without Verm or a PC
    #637905 -

It seems as though in order to grow the Sacred Fungus, you must use a pressure cooker to sterilize the substrate. That, or use a tek involving vermiculite. Both pressure cookers and vermiculite are products of modern society and 20th century technology. It just seems messed up that I have to depend on the very system I despise to bring me the tools necessary for this wonderful hobby. What happens after I fake my death and live amongst the trees? How will I grow mushrooms then? What about after the enevitable demise of modern society? How are we to grow without PCs or vermiculite? Is there a way to grow mushrooms without either a pressure cooker or vermiculite?

dude, your indoor dwelling is a product of the 20th century, and there's where your problem lies. you don't have to use modern tools, but if you want to try and cultivate in an indoor environment, you're not going to have much choice (are glass jars considered 20th century?)

anyway, if you live amongst the trees, you can hunt for them in their natural environment - just make sure you take off your 20th century birkenstocks...

was this sarcasm?

It can be accomplished using whole grains and fractional sterilisation.
But it seems to be way too much effort for most people....

Sure there's something that will grow shrooms while you dwell
out among the trees. It's called a cow.
Now your next mission is to figure out where the hell you're
going to plug your computer up!

When you move to the forest, I suggest you find a large tree near an existing patch of Mother Natures stash! When your hollowing out your new home with the sharp stone tool... be sure to put all those hardwood chips in the mushroom patch.

Peace
