mycelium just stopped growing!

I have been growing shrooms using the vermiculite and rice substrate, and they have worked fine on several occaisons before. However this time the mycelium got started, then just stopped growing afterjust over a week.

Could this be because there is too much water? the substrate looks slightly soggy. or could it be that they got too hot (they're in the airing cupboard, but the thermometer says they haven't gone above 87 deg F.

Suggestions welcome!
