LIVE YOUR LIFE
    #11067869 -

What am I living for?

This question has so many answers, and somehow I feel like it is the deepest question that one can ask of their self. People will argue that humans have no reason for existence, that we have no purpose other then to live and die. Others will say that we are created on Earth to learn a lesson or to accomplish something.

But...none of this what actually matters. The question truly is....What am I living for? Am I living to for the next high? Am I living for my family and friends? Am I living for financial wealth? Am I living to do something amazing?

This question becomes so complicated so fast, and yet...it should be the easiest thing a person can answer. Why are you living? If there is no reason.....you are lying. If you truly had no reason to live, then why wouldn't you simply kill yourself? If you are living its because, at the very least, you are looking for happiness. For if you aren't looking for happiness, why do you get yourself up in the morning? Why do you get up and go to your job, or go to your classes? To live in a house, so you can earn a living, so you can have a hobby or career or an art or have sex or, in general, pursue happiness!!

People say they HATE their jobs, or they HATE going to classes, that they are frustrated, bored, or tired. That life is not worth living, that it gets you down, traps you in the system. So WHY do you do these things you hate? Because, you are hoping that after all of your troubles and pain, you will derive some enjoyment by the end of the day.

So, when you ask yourself, What am I living for? You must also have to know, what is it that makes me happy? As far as I know, most people don't want to kill themselves. And, as far as I know, many people do enjoy their jobs and what they do. Most people have an idea, at least a little bit, about what they want out of life, and where they are going. So why is it so hard to answer the question, Are we alive for a reason?

I want to live life to do something amazing. To do, and to see the incredible. Its my life, and its my reason for living. No system or person can ever take that away. Earth is here for us to experience. And I'm not saying its here for that reason, I'm saying that the Earth is here! Right here, right now! For all of us to experience. It is up to us to choose how we want to experience it.

Sure life has its little rules and intricacies that must be followed. One can't fall to the top of a building. I'm referring to a mental attitude towards life.

I see so many people who seem like they are only living for the next thrill....For the next drug they will take, for the next wasted night, for the next tripped out concert, for the next hook up. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say that I don't do any of these things. Music and drugs are truly amazing things, but to LIVE FOR them? Life is so much more than a weed, or a mushroom, or a pill, or a warm body. These are all things people should enjoy, but to live for them is to be narrow minded.

We literally have the powers of the universe at our command. We live in an age where travel, communication, and fabrication are increasing at an ever increasing rate, and our ability and coordination to accomplish these feats is staggering.

I'm not going to belittle anyone and say that life can't or shouldn't be lived for the simple things. If you live for love of a family and that is all...who is to say that is bad? No one. It is your life, it is your happiness. You live YOUR life for what makes YOU happy. Plain and simple. And no one is the same. Each of us seek out and find what makes us happy, and if you believe in human fellowship, then you respect another's happiness. This is the way it should be.

How will you live your life?

Personally I am a being of strong emotions; little things get to me more than they should, and some other little things amuse me more than they should. I suppose I am here for the give and take. Offering my exhalations to the lives of the trees, and contributing to the overall telos of the human race.

I also like to think. *hugs brain* ....ew x_x

You say you want to live to do something amazing, can you give an example? To me, those little things are some of the most amazing.

Personally, I don't live for anything. I don't create a purpose or goal. Live like a dance. You don't dance for any specific reason, the dance is enough. Life is the same way, it is enough just to exist.

If I have the opportunity to do something extraordinary, I will take it as it will also be part of the dance. But it won't be my ultimate purpose.

Right now...its just a feeling. Like I want to create something or do something special. I definitely want to travel the world and see the rest of the human race. I feel like I've had a very limited perspective here in America.

Its ok to not have a purpose or a goal, but like you said, you live for the dance. And you dance for the dance! A dance is about becoming in touch with yourself and nature and music, about feeling the fluidity and simplicity of motion. That is a beautiful thing to live for.

If everyone believed in the strength of human fellowship there would be far less suffering on this planet. I think its the way the world should be. And I believe you should be able to live how you want....and respect that for all humans.

Is this the way it must be? No.

Life is what it is.

How will you live your life?

I agree with this whole post except the bit that suggests that weed a mushroom pill or warm body are not the best things to experience. I just think that a lifestyle of doing active grand things is going to keep you going and getting more out of life for longer than drugs or sexual appetite. However, if you could live without having to keep your body alive, taking drugs and fuckin all day is just as worthwhile as anything else - as long as you are feeling good about it and not bad about it.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF LIFE?
I think this is the wrong question. The right question is 'What is the meaning of *things in life*' The only purpose for life is to enable you to experience the things in it. The purpose of doing your things each day ought to be clear to you. Why do you brush your teeth? As a child you might not understand but now you know that you do it so that you can keep having good teeth, which makes life so much better. If you thought you were going to die soon, I don't think you would see much point in brushing your teeth.

Why do you go to work? You do that so that you can have money which you can use to secure yourself a home, to be clean and well fed, and to 'earn' access to all of the things that society offers for money. The reason you go to work to do this is simply because you are living in a society where that is the only practical option for most. It is not practical to hunt your food or tend a crop or live off the land totally. Unless you go and live in the wild, away from society. But most people are not willing to detatch themselves from society because in the end civilisation as we know it allows people many more options.

The meaning of life is to sustain your ability to have meaningful experiences. What is the meaning of those meaningful experiences? Well, it is intrinsic to each different meaningful experience.

Like I want to create something or do something special.

This is what humanity tells itself generation after generation. But IMO there is nothing "special" about anything. I used to collect special things as keepsakes, over time I forgot about, lost, or discarded almost all of them. Then I realized they were not special. Just a game I played in my mind, a game I played for very specific reasons that certainly were not special.
