bad posture
    #11035400 -

I have terrible fucking posture.  I do not even feel that I could sit straight up if I tried, its like there is a hitch in my back or something.

Anybody else with bad posture?  What do you do for it?

I'm sure yoga would help alot.  I try stretching but I still feel as if I am not sitting completely straight up.

Any older members who suffer the consequences of bad posture earlier in life want to scare me into going to see a chiropractor?

I used to have horrible posture, but after I started working out it improved.

If you can do pullups, situps, deadlifts, and hamstring stretches, it will help strengthen the muscles which affect your posture. Another thing that helps is sleeping on the floor (on your back) without a pillow once in a while. You will have the nicest back-cracks the next day, but make sure you are really tired so you can fall asleep!

Another exercise is to stand with your back against the wall with your feet out in front of you (how far out depends on how bad your posture is: the worse it is, the further out your feet will be) so your entire back is flat against the wall. Then move your arms up against the wall as if you are doing a military press. As you strengthen the muscles you can start bringing your legs closer to the wall.

Also, look at the Alexander Technique and watch your posture when you are sitting at a computer.

do any of you ever think about bad posture from a different perspective?

like, if you observe someone with good posture compared with someone with bad posture?  one looks confident, happy, etc...the other looks depressed or indifferent

posture definitely has a psychological effect on the mind

i naturally don't respect someone with poor posture as much as i do someone with good posture

One time I hurt my back when I hit a tree while sledding.  For a while my back was really stiff, and I had to keep it strait for weeks because it hurt when I slouched.  After a while, it just became second nature.  I stand, and sit strait now.

If you hang upside down, and gently twist from side to side, its supposed to help straiten your spine.  I dont know how practical that is though, unless you live next to a playground with monkey bars...  My sister dated a chiropractor that told me that.

If you could get an appointment with the chiropractor, I would definitely recommend it!  Around here its $40 for 2 visits, and it feels SOOOO good!

I dont really see why. Some people have medical conditions, other its just natural. Why would this effect your respect for a person. Im a great guy, buy i look like a fucking letter.

Thats so true though.  Its like one of those subliminal things in the back of your mind that you cant really help.  Its like how you trust someone who looks you in your eye, and smiles when talking more than someone who looks at the ground and kinda half smiles.  Or how you get bad feelings about someone who talks to someone, and glances at you out of the corner of their eye.

shrug practicing chakra balancing totally helps with back pain. dude seriously tho fuck hippies.

its not a a hippie system chakra balancing predates hippies by alot find what chakra the pain is linked to a research what in your life could be causing the stress there unless you directly know its from physical lifting
