Good way to fix posture?
    #2606393 - 04/27/04 02:47 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

My posture really sucks. I slouch horribly, and when I try to meditate I have to sit up against a wall or else I just end up hunched over really badly. Are there any like...methods, to fixing one's posture? Or am I gonna have to just..actively think about sitting well. Cause that's going to suck and I doubt I'll ever get anywhere like that.

I have pretty bad posture too. I think it has to do with how strong your stomach and lower back muscles are. Try doing crunches everyday. If you have access to a pretty good gym, there are machines to work your lower back. Practice walking extra straight during the day to strengthen those muscles.

^^^ what he said

plus an easy lower-back exercise you can do at home is to lye on your stomache and lift up your upper body using only your back muscles... kinda like a reverse sit up

sucking your gut in always straightens you up...

I have a back prob and it was a trick that the physios showed me.  It feels unnatural to tighten your stomach muscles and still slouch (try it & see  )
