Happiness is one thing. Enjoyment of happiness another.

Yes to enjoy the happy, one must experience and recognize yet appreciate the sad.
To BE happy, however, one need only be lucky.

I agree with the experience and recognise part of course, but, why do you say one need only be lucky?
Don't you think we kind of build our luck in a way? Create our own happiness?

those who are simply experiencing and living happiness without the sadness which enables them to actually ENJOY their happiness have indeed lucked out.... or hmmmm hmm maybe they're NOT so lucky.. nevermind I see your point
The lucky ones are those who get the full spectrum

Yea but your full spectrum is only what you've experienced.. there isnt just this empty area of your mind that is waiting to be full of an experience is there?
maybe the lucky ones are indeed just lucky.... but then again, what does it matter how we got here? We're here.
of course the more we experience the more wisdom we hold and the more we can help others.

Humans have the ability to empty their mind, and leave space for the experience of "here and now" to take place....now.. ..

I think you totally misread me man.... and who said I was lucky enough to have somehow experienced the "full spectrum" of "happy/sad"

I think the special thing about us is that we have the ability to LEAVE the "hear and now" and think about the future as well as record the past
Edit #1(addition):I guess we forge the future THROUGH recording and anylizing the past

i dont completely agree with you there... happyness is not the result of external situations... external situations result of beeing happy... its a simple choice... love yourself, love your life, go your way... and be happy!

I should summarize my thoughts from this post, if only for personal clarity:
Those who experience ALL happiness and never experience sadness are indeed UNlucky, because they don't get to appreciate the happiness.
I once heard somebody say "You could slam your head into the wall a buncha times just so when you STOP slamming your head agains the wall you'll feel great relief." As stupid of an idea as that is, it does kind of represent this idea.
Its tied in with the yin-yang, or "the balance" or whatever you'd like to call it
True happiness cannot exist without true sadness, and vice-versa.
The LUCKY ones are those who experience the low low lows, and the high high highs. The sadder one is, the happier they can get.
-=- Matt/Strumpling -=- OK I'll stop rambling for now
