A place of complete Happiness?
    #1338599 -

So... this may sound amateur, but it's something a few of my friends and i were throwing at eachother...heh..
My friend brings up this statement, "I would like to be in a place that is completely happy. Where everything radiates happiness."
I myself, at this moment in time, disagree. Only because i believe there never could be a place like that. I mean, everything that you have come to know as happy, would be occuring every day, right? So then those "happy thoughts" would become common. Would you always be striving for something new to make you happy?
What are your ideas on equilibrium of good and evil? I believe that the world needs a balance. It's like night and day. Don't get me wrong, i'm not talking about the Christian God and Lucifer. Just good and evil...
er??

Life can only known if we have dispair- a life without a downside isn't life.

Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

I feel that the closer we get to pure terror and sadness overwhelming us from all angles, the further we understand how happiness is deeply rooted in its opposite, like all things.

Without dispair and sadness, happiness is completely unrecognizeable

Yes, but I think peace and satisfaction can still be had without an opposite. Which is in a way happiness.

So you'd rather find the "center" and hover there instead of experiencing the full spectrum?

oh and with regards to "peace," I couldn't agree with you more - I believe worldwide peace is definitely a possibility... Don't know how PROBABLE it is, especially any time soon, but yeah its certainly possible and I would love it!

"happy" things and "sad" things will happen no matter what. the two construct existance. its really society that even defines things as happy and sad, as a species we use these terms to help progress our evolution, and the destruction of other species. anywho, you can take these "happy" and "sad" things, and appreciate them, and thats true Happiness. When you know for a fact that its all so beautiful, and can live your life knowing that, and not waver in your belief.

Life is beautiful! :-)

I would, and in a way you are then living the full spectrum, you are not wanting to get away from the sad, and be around the happy. You don't seperate them, but accept them both as required for the other.

I don't know if you understood what I was saying.....

It sounds like you're agreeing with me by saying you learn to love both the good and the bad... well then if you lived in the "center" at a perfect balance you wouldn't get to experience EITHER

I dont think we have to necessarily experience a downside, just be very aware of how bad things 'could' be...
i'd like to bring back more rituals and things, celebrating peace and happiness... just regularly acknowledging that it is something that has been worked for.... remembering how easy it can fall apart if we don't respect it.

Good and evil must co-exist, for they are the two sides of a coin.
Without an up, there can be now down, etc...
All that same old crap, but with a new twist. Learn to savour a moment/live in the moment.

Psychedelics can help you learn how to make it seem as if the time in which the bad moments in life occur is moving infinately fast in comparison to the joyous moments, which you can make last for -- well.... forever. (or at least infinite-1)

Happiness is all in the mind. I know some really negative people who think thier lives suck. Everyone has problems, but some people handle it better. I know alot of people who are almost always happy because of thier appreciation for life, and that even if pain hurts, its living, and its a miracle in its own. Changing yourself is changing the world

I agree that you need to take the bad with the good or you dont appreciate either. Its just like with food, when you go to a good restaurant and they give you a choice of wines to compliment your entree, or on of those funny things to clear your palet. Or complimentary colors, one makes the other really stand out.

think of those statements like you're reading the constitution....

if you're always in a happy place, where everything radiates happiness....well then, if it's always happy, then all the stuff about happy becoming common and boring is moot because it's always happy - - bottom line

always happy=always happy

nothing more, nothing less

For every "thing" there is an opposite, the opposite completes the "thing" and the "thing" completes the opposite. This is called balance, without it we would not be here. Sunshine wouldnt feel good without the rain, pleasure wouldnt feel good without the pain.
