I actually have perfect, not decent vision.

My vision was measured a few years ago to be beyond perfect. 30/20 vision. 20/20 considered perfect.

Yeah.... about that.

15 is beyond perfect vision.

30... means your eye is worse than the 20 eye.

"In the term "20/20 vision" the numerator refers to the distance in feet from which a person can reliably distinguish a pair of objects. The denominator is the distance from which a person with standard VA (that is, with 20/20 vision) would be able to distinguish them"

Going by wikipedia 30/20 would be better than 20/20, but I might be reading it wrong

when a doc tells you that you have 30/20 vision im sure he means 30 in one eye and 20 in the other.  the distance is standard.  if he was talking about just one eye then that would be different, but im sure we would all know if you were a pirate:captain:

anyways i did a search and apparently there is quite a few complications to lasik.  altho they say they are "rare" i don't quite buy that.

http://www.levinsoneyeclinic.com/complications.htm

they have a list of at least 10 possible things that can go wrong.  and at the bottom they say there's a 1 in 2000 chance you will see worse than before and require a cornea transplant   those are better chances than lottery tickets

All 20/15 means is that a person with 20/15 vision can clearly see somthing 20 feet away that most people would need to be no more than 15 feet from. To this end, it is better. A person with 20/100 vision can see something 20 feet away that most people could normally see 100 feet away.

so 20/15 vision is better than 30/20.

Lower number = better

Higher = worse

20/20 is the base for 'perfect' vision.

how old were you when you got lasik?  i hear our eye's change for the better part of our lives, and that they can only lazor you up once

im way to worried about going blind from that crap too

I was 27-28.  For the most part, nearsightedness doesn't change much past a certain age.  In my case, my prescription had been stable 4-5 years or so.

They can definitely perform lasik more than once.  In my procedure, a free "touch up" was included, but I didn't need it.

Chances of going blind are basically zero.  The area that the laser can carve/cut is extremely small.  It would be like cutting off a finger with a paperclip.  Probably possible, but not really.

One of the best investments I've ever made IMO.

Same.  I had mine done when I was 18 - I'm 20 now, it's fantastic.

would you say you can see better than with glasses or is it just more convenient?
either way it sounds like something I might look into

I see better than when I had glasses/contacts.

There is definitely (what I perceive at least) an increased "crispness" to my vision.  For whatever reason, this seems to be most notable when looking at the leaves on trees.

My vision is horribe, and I am forced to wear glasses if Im driving or at school. It's BULLSHIT, but it's so bad that I can not function normally without them, even though I am waay better looking without them.

I didn't have LASIK done - I had PRK.  My vision is the same during the day, and slightly worse at night.  SO convenient though, I wouldn't go back to glasses for anything.

nice that's what I was thinking, I know when I switched from plastic(or whatever they commonly use) to glass lenses I noticed a difference like that.

I didn't get glasses till I was 17 so clear vision is still a GREAT feeling to me, I'm glad I didn't grow up used to perfect vision

All I know is that I was 20/80 in both eyes or something, got contacts and it's like.. what the fuck the world really looks like this? cool, the best part is looking at the night sky, the moon really is fucking beautiful.

i hate my glasses though, never going to wear them.

Where did u hear that contact make your vision worse ?

well i know if you wear glasses for very long periods, your eyes keep adjusting thus getting worse. thats usually why people update their perscriptions to a stronger one. n i wouldnt doubt contacts can do it too. i mean, its the same thing, you just put it actually on your eye instead. i just dont want to risk it. n glasses r fugly, everybody who has glasses looks better without em, imo

that's just misinformation lol,

your eyes change regardless if you have glasses or contacts in.

i wish i had perfect vision

i feel my vision could be better even with contacts in, and they dry my eyes out - oh well,

how much does lasik cost?

my vision without glasses is pretty bad but i can still function perfectly fine, just bad eye strain causes headaches.

i hate contacts, touching your eye's all the time is bound to cause infections.  plus your stuck on that retarded contact solution lifeline, and you have to pray that the stuff you use is steril and not contaminated with bacteria that causes blindness lol  i assume contact wearers have heard that story at least i hope.

my old glasses were heavy and made of glass, then i got these plastic ones and they are super light.  i kinda hate the plastic ones tho

glasses like squeeze on my head no matter what kind i wear, i've always had the same problem with sunglasses and shit and i just look bad with glasses, the contacts took a bit of getting use to, and i drown that shit in antibacterial crap lol, but i think i'll start saving for lasik.

if something is sterile is shouldn't have bacteria in it.  if something is sopposed to be a disinfectant then obviously it shouldn't come with bacteria/parasites built in lol...and a disinfected for contact lenses sure as fuck shouldn't have occular pathogens that can cause blindness in them

and this shit has happened

here's just ONE example

http://www.cnn.com/HEALTH/blogs/paging.dr.gupta/2007/05/heading-contact-solution-warnings.html

one example is enough for me to say fuck no!
