Quote: Lately I have been having some problems that have been pointed out by a friend of mine...
When a black person comes into where I work I always watch them closely and 90% of the time they mess up shit or steal it. I always end up telling them to get out. This is NOT in the ghetto BTW. When they are at my neighborhood pool I avoid it. I can hear them a mile away always so loud and drastic. If a random black people is in my neighborhood I watch them, closely. If they visit my house I always check my belongings when they leave. I never walk close to black people (I was robbed by one at my school like 5 years ago) so they look at me funny when I obviously avoid them, shouting as screaming as they usually do.
I just can't get over my non-trusting ways of black people. Yet the friend who noticed it IS BLACK and he is a very good friend. Am I racist? Or do I just avoid moronic acting people? It's hard to tell because they are almost always black. Or maybe more black people just act moronic but its not because they are black.
I have been called racist many times and it's pissing me off
Of course you are racist, take a hint man!
You dont need to take the test, I'll tell you right now you have strong negative bias towards black people.
Guess what, most black people in the US do too. Its cultural conditioning.
When you see a black person, you think bad thoughts. Thoughts of being unsafe, thoughts of being victimized, thoughts that they probably will suck because of the visual cue you get - them being black.
I took the test and I'm one of the rare few who has strong positive bias towards black people. Why? Because throughout my life starting at kindergarten, the black people in my life have actually been mostly really nice people.
If a mod comes and flashes you and me a picture of an average-looking black guy, you will be predisposed to not liking him and me predisposed towards liking him in the split second before we start actively thinking - it is the way life conditioned us.

Jesus fucking Christ man what are you saying
Look man there is white trash culture and there is black trash culture. Both are VERY discouraging to any decent individual regardless of race. You are taking trash culture and take it as the standard for an entire race.
Look, in my neighborhood there are a good number of african immigrants. They have none of that ghetto trash MTV gangsta shit going. To generalize, they tend to be upbeat and polite, either friendly/outgoing or a bit shy and silent, put on a coat when its 70'F and tend to sing out loud in Swahili when riding their bicyle (I actually know Swahili when I hear it, so thats no assumption)
Nothing of the hoodrat thing you see with many African-Americans or African-Caribbeans. The underlying reason is simple: their great-grandparents havent gone through slavery and all the cultural racism following that.
As the Africans stay here longer, you see the new cultural environment have its effect, and quite often its detrimental.
What got you worried is the fucked-up side of black American culture. Realize that this is matched equally by the fucked up side of white American culture, except that is tucked away mostly in rural areas of the South.
Are you racist? yes, and I recommend you to deconstruct it to the point of getting no more feedback on it from your environment.
Your behavior actually INVITES being victimized. How do you think a genuine thug will take offense to:

Not with a frown, I tell you that!
Quote: should I just take the chance to get fucked up again by them so I can stop being called racist?
You should target the group you avoid more precisely to distinguish between black people who are potential offenders and people who are just, being people.
Hang out with your black friend and his buddies and watch closely how society interact with them. If you walk through a crowd you are in a cocoon of tensing up faces and firmly held purses. If you really register the difference of white folks reaction to you walking with some black friends vs with white friends, chances are you'd be shocked and have a little better understanding that most of this "toughness" of black trash culture is really a defense mechanism.
