White Patches on San Pedro... What are they/ Are they Safe?

Hello all, purchased a San Pedro cactus about a day ago. When I picked it out I didn't inspect it too well it seems. As I am looking at it today there are small white patches covering small areas of the cactus. What is this? And is it still safe for consumption? Thanks for the help.

Also, grow the cactus and you will find a hobby that will brighten your day for the rest of your life :grin:

What you are probably describing are scabs.It is nothing to worry about. I have seen it happen when a plant got too hot or dry & started to droop to one side. Where the bend was there will damaged tissue which will scab. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah they will heal and then you can scrape them off with your fingernail to reveal "new skin" underneath.

Ive done this many times.

Make sure you are not prematurely removing the scabs, treat them like scabs on yourself, give them plenty of time to heal.

Once properly healed the scabs will come off easy.
