Where all the philosophy went....
    #1024251 - 11/05/02 12:22 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but it seems like the philosophy kind of died out when this forum became a "science" forum. Granted Spirituality, philosophy, and science all have ties to one another, but if one is big into spirituallity, it conflicts with most scientific hard headed rationalists, in which case it causes arguments and gets flamed, resulting in people not wanting to post their ideas for fear of them being bashed.

I personally think the science forum should be seperate, but maybe that's just me.

No one knows the worth of innocence till he knows it is gone forever, and that money can't buy it back. Not the saint, but the sinner that repenteth, is he to whom the full length and breadth, and height and depth, of life's meaning is revealed. Good and evil loose all objective meaning and are seen as equally necessary and contrasting elements in the masterpiece that is the universe.

I thought the same thing, but the powers that be did not think so.

I thought that you were one of "the powers that be."

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

No the powers that be are red. I was pushing for a seperate forum for science, but they thought it would be too many forums. I nominated you and Swami as mods, but alas...

I also think Science should be in its own forum

Not at all. This board appears to be more of a "intelligent discussion forum" than a board about any of the 3 topics in it's current name. My guess is that it budded from the off-topic forum as all the people who wanted discussion with more 'meat' to it asked for their own board.
